Danach läutet der neue Leon gewissermaßen die größte Modelloffensive des spanischen Autobauers ein. Technisch offensiv und in der Verarbeitung auf hochpreisigerem Niveau, wurden dem kompakten Leon schon einmal gute Startvoraussetzungen mit auf den Weg gegeben. Er ist das erste Fahrzeug der Spanier, das auf dem Modularen Querbaukasten von Volkswagen aufbaut. Das Feuer unter der Haube hat man dem Spanier nicht genommen.
