The Raynaud’s Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit health organization, is launching a new and assertive campaign – “Don’t Turn a Cold Shoulder to Painful Fingers” – to urge those with the painful disorder – and their doctors – not to dismiss the pain Raynaud’s sufferers endure.
October is Raynaud’s Awareness Month, when temperatures generally get chillier and an estimated 5-10 percent of the population experiences numbness and pain in their fingers, toes and other extremities. Stress can also trigger the condition.

Sometimes referred to as “comfort care,” palliative care is a specialized approach to the treatment of patients with a serious or life-threatening illness. Palliative care has helped Deadra Gladden get her life back through symptom management and support from Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, Marlton, N.J.
In May of 2014 Deadra, age 28, was in the hospital, feeling hopeless and in excruciating pain due to lupus, a disease she has been battling for over half her young life. The American Pain Foundation (APF) announced today the launch of new information and resources on pain medication safety for acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as a part of its PainSAFE™ educational initiative. The new information will be launched with a national public service announcement (PSA) emphasizing the safe use of pain treatment options, particularly medications containing NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) and acetaminophen (Tylenol, APAP). APF is the nation’s largest consumer advocacy organization dedicated to people with pain.
