Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, called on government leaders to increase their investments in vaccines and to hold themselves accountable for extending the benefits of vaccines to every child.
In a keynote address at the 64th World Health Assembly, an annual gathering of health ministers and global health leaders, Gates laid out his vision for the impact that broadening access to vaccines can have on the world. “Strong immunization systems will put an end to polio and help us reach all children with five to six new vaccines,” Gates said. “We can save four million lives by 2015, and 10 million lives by 2020.”

Der für China zuständige Vorstand der Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, präzisierte am Vortag der Auto Shanghai 2013 die auf den chinesischen Markt zugeschnittene Elektromobilitäts-Strategie. Es sei geplant, von 2014/2015 an Fahrzeuge mit elektrifiziertem Antrieb anzubieten, die zum Teil lokal produziert werden. Bereits 26 Modelle des Konzerns sind von staatlicher Seite als besonders energiesparend und umweltschonend anerkannt worden. Volkswagen habe den verbrauch seiner in China derzeit mehr als 70 Modelle umfassenden Flotte zwischen 2005 und 2010 um 20 Prozent reduziert und werde ihn bis 2015 um weitere 11 Prozent senken.
The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation (HWCF) today announced that America’s top food and beverage companies have exceeded their goal of reducing 1.5 trillion calories in the marketplace in the United States. Knapp zwei Jahre später fiel der Brilliance mit seinem Modell BS6 ähnlich glatt durch. Im Euro NCAP-Crashtest bekam das Auto nur einen von fünf Punkten. Der Qoros wird zwar in China produziert, aber ist unter europäischer Leitung entwickelt und designt. Liegt das der Unterschied? Auf jeden Fall sind die Chancen des Qoros, der 2015 nach Westeuropa kommen soll, erheblich gestiegen.
