Hunger doesn’t stand a chance against “Meatzilla,” a towering, three-story-high, monster-sized bag of Jack Link’s® jerky that today roared into New York City’s Meatpacking District. Spurring the epic takeover was National Jerky Day, celebrated every June 12.
The giant meat bag descended on Gansevoort Plaza this morning, dangling from an enormous crane to deliver its mighty, meaty cargo. The neighborhood was reclaimed as the “Meatsnacking District,” to the delight of jerky fans.

Safe Horizon, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence, today officially launched the public service announcement (PSA) for its groundbreaking “#PutTheNailinIt” campaign to end domestic violence. #PutTheNailinIt encourages men and women to show support for victims of abuse and pledge to take a stand against domestic violence. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children from ages 1 to 19 in the U.S. Yet, childhood cancer research and services are vastly and consistently underfunded. This weekend, Northwestern Mutual financial professionals and employees will support the fight against childhood cancer through its nonprofit partner, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), by holding nearly 200 lemonade stands as part of the Foundation’s national fundraising initiative, Alex’s Lemonade Days (June 12-14).
Founded by Alex Scott (1996-2004) in 2004, Alex’s Lemonade Days is a three-day national event that grew out of Alex’s front yard lemonade stand. During Alex’s Lemonade Days, dedicated volunteers host thousands of Alex’s Lemonade Stands across the country, raising more than $1 million for childhood cancer research. June 2015 will mark the 12th Annual Lemonade Days, and will continue Alex’s mission to raise money one cup of lemonade at a time, renewing her idea that any contributor, at any age, can make a difference.

TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference 2015, the 20th event for the duty free & travel retail industry in Asia Pacific, closed on 14th May in Singapore after a very successful week.
With occupied exhibition space topping previous years at 9,118 m2 – up 9% on 2014 - and 292 exhibiting companies present (+12%), of which 73 were new to the show, there was a huge variety of products on display for the benefit of visiting buyers and agents.
Visitor numbers were considered satisfactory by organisers TFWA in a year which has been challenging for the duty free and travel retail industry, with aviation accidents, a new approach to gift giving and luxury consumption among the all-important Chinese travellers, financial instability and political tension in several countries and the resulting slowdown in the growth of air passenger traffic.
