This book was written primarily for those young people, both boys and girls and their parents and/or mentors who, for whatever reason, believe they have no chance at a successful life. This book is the story about a young boy who believed he was in that category while growing up. That little boy changed those odds and ultimately did many things that most people cannot even dream of. Dick was expected to work twelve- to fourteen-hour days every day until he left home to join the air force when he was seventeen years old. By the grace of God, Dick somehow graduated from high school since he never once, in twelve years, ever had any time to do homework. Dick’s very best childhood friend was his Dog King who is on the cover of this Book. Without King, Dick’s childhood would have been very, very difficult, for they were always together. Life was about to change dramatically when Dick joined the air force when he was seventeen years old. The title of the book, “Destiny,” is very appropriate since it was at that time when destiny played a major role in Dick’s life. Dick should have never passed his induction physical due to an unknown severe bundle branch blockage in his heart, but he did; he should have never been accepted in the Air Force’s air weather school, but he was, graduating forty-third out of a class total of 187. Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of measurement solutions, today introduced the 6 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscope. The new oscilloscope extends the performance threshold of midrange oscilloscopes to 8 GHz and delivers a 25 GS/s sample rate simultaneously on all 4 channels – an industry first for this class of oscilloscope – to accommodate the needs of designers working on faster, more complex embedded systems designs. With 25 GS/s sample rate on all channels, designers can accurately now view up to four high-speed signals at one time. For example, a DDR3 clock and three DDR3 data channels can be viewed and analyzed simultaneously, decreasing the time it takes to fully characterize a design with an instrument that shares sampling systems between channels.
The new 6 Series MSO also boosts measurement confidence with its low-noise inputs especially at the highest sensitivity settings where it matters most. For example, modern embedded designs require clean, precisely-controlled DC power supplies to feed ASIC and FPGA devices. For such applications, the 6 Series MSO enables designers to measure DC power rails with more resolution and accuracy, reducing the time it takes to understand high frequency influencers on power rails in a design.

In a new round of evaluations, 5 of 7 small SUVs earn good ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for occupant protection in a passenger-side small overlap front crash.
The ratings bring to 16 the number of small SUVs the Institute has evaluated in the passenger-side small overlap front test, which was introduced in 2017 to encourage manufacturers to offer the same level of protection for front-seat passengers as drivers in this type of crash.
The BMW X1; Chevrolet Equinox and its twin, the GMC Terrain; Jeep Compass and Mitsubishi Outlander earn good ratings in the passenger-side small overlap front test. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport earns a marginal rating, and the Ford Escape earns poor. For the 2018 model year, the Equinox shed weight to join the small SUV size class. Earlier models were classified as midsize.
None of the newly rated 2018 models earns better than acceptable marks for structure. (The Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 are the only small SUVs evaluated so far to earn good ratings for structure in the passenger-side small overlap front test.) The Outlander Sport is marginal, and the Escape is rated poor. Both the Outlander Sport and Escape allowed too much intrusion into the occupant compartment on the right side.

Haggar Clothing Co., the Official Jacket Provider of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, will create a new Hall of Fame this year to recognize and celebrate America’s greatest dads.
Starting today, football legend and Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, whose own father demonstrated the importance of family by putting aside his football dreams and turning down a scholarship to care for his family, will lead the national call for nominations to the inaugural class of the Haggar Hall of Fame Dads.
“While being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and wearing the Gold Jacket is one of my proudest achievements, being a dad to my five kids exceeds that by a mile,” said Smith. “My dad sacrificed so much to give me this life, and he’s the reason I have the Gold Jacket – and it’s why I’m honored to join Haggar in recognizing the great dads and father figures across the nation with a Hall of Fame of their own.”
