The Great Food Truck Race kicks off season four with a brand-new cast of food truck hopefuls, who hit the road for the longest route in series history (4,181 miles) and exciting culinary challenges that celebrate the country’s national landmarks from the Hollywood sign to South Dakota’s Crazy Horse Memorial to Chicago’s iconic Buckingham Fountain to the U.S. Capitol building in Washington D.C. These competitors are not current food truck operators – they are eight teams of talented cooks with unique concepts and a dream to one day operate their own food truck business. Each three-person team is provided a vehicle for the race, but only the grand-prize winner gets to keep their food truck and a $50,000 cash prize to start their business. Today, Atom Factory CEO Troy Carter announced plans to host a second season of Smashd Labs from September 6 to November 18. For the inaugural class, there were over 200 applicants in two weeks, six startups in the inaugural cohort, 30 mentors, founders as young as 19 years old, and over $2M raised from investments within six months of the lab’s concluding Demo Day.

Matt Cogar proved he’s one of the best lumberjack athletes of all time. Cogar won the 2018 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® U.S. Pro Championship in front of thousands of raucous Wisconsin fans and became the only American athlete to ever win six straight U.S. titles. His victory also gives him the honor of representing the U.S. at the 2018 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Individual World Championship in October in Liverpool, England.
This year STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® made history by having the American women compete on the same stage as the men. Erin LaVoie outlasted an incredibly talented field of female athletes to win the Women’s Division Championship. This was the second year of the Women’s Division.
