Continuing a multi-year string of quality and reliability awards and accolades, J.D. Power’s 2017 Initial Quality Study (IQS) today recognized Kia Motors as the highest-ranking nameplate in the United States for the second year in a row. Kia’s improvement to 72 problems per 100 vehicles marks the best nameplate performance within the last 20 years of the study, driven by five segment awards – the most of any nameplate — for the Soul (Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle), Forte (Compact Car), Cadenza (Large Car), Niro (Small SUV) and Sorento (Midsize SUV). The Kia Soul took home an IQS award for the third consecutive year while Kia’s two newest models, Cadenza and Niro, were outstanding performers in their first model year, with the Kia Cadenza earning the top score among all models ranked in the study. Together with the Optima and Sportage , each of the seven award eligible Kia models included in the 2017 IQS study finished first or second in their respective categories.

On Saturday, June 3, the latest wonder in the MSC Cruises fleet, MSC Meraviglia was christened in a glittering ceremony by international screen legend and godmother of all of MSC Cruises’ ships, Sophia Loren. At 171,598 GRT and with guest capacity of 5,714 (4,488 at double occupancy), MSC Meraviglia is the biggest ship to be built by a European ship owner, MSC Cruises, and also the biggest ship to come into service in 2017.
MSC Cruises, the Swiss-based world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and brand market leader in Europe, South America and South Africa, hosted the glamorous, high-profile event in Le Havre, with entertainment from top international performers and an exclusive gala dinner in the company of special guests, authorities, key partners from the travel industry, global media and top management from MSC Cruises and its parent company MSC Group. In an appliance industry first, LG Electronics transformed its LG InstaView™ refrigerators into musical instruments as part of a series of surprise musical performances for thousands of consumers at Westfield World Trade Center in the Oculus – one of the nation’s busiest transit and shopping destinations. The performance kicked off with two knocks on the LG InstaView refrigerator’s unique glass panel, which triggered musical renditions of pop songs featuring choreographed routines from performers dressed as everyday passersby, entertaining commuters and shoppers.
Highlighting LG InstaView technology – a one-of-a-kind innovation that allows users to knock twice to illuminate the refrigerator’s glass panel and see inside without opening the door – the experience featured renditions of today’s chart-topping songs by Andrew Huang, a music producer known for creating rhythmic beats with non-traditional instruments, now including LG home appliance innovations.
