To celebrate the 116th anniversary of the invention of modern air conditioning, Carrier is donating dozens of heating and cooling systems to Habitat for Humanity’s annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, including systems that support net zero energy. For the first time, four Habitat homes of St. Joseph County will achieve this distinction, meaning they will produce as much renewable energy as they consume over the course of a year. Net zero energy home construction is a bold departure from conventional homebuilding. For the past three years, the demand for energy increased at a yearly rate of 8%, and is expected to increase up to 58% in the next 25 years. These figures will have an immense impact on oil, especially that 90% of the Kingdom’s revenue is generated from oil exports. While 27% percent of the produced oil is spent on generating energy.

This summer, homeowners across the United States will beat the heat with the help of Carrier ductless home comfort systems and Habitat for Humanity. Carrier has donated more than 500 systems to Habitat and they will be installed in homes throughout the country to provide cooling when it’s hot and heating when it’s cold. Carrier has teamed up with pro football legend and longtime Habitat supporter, Warrick Dunn, in Atlanta to celebrate the donation. For 20 years, Dunn’s Home for the Holidays program has provided single mothers working toward their first home purchase with financial assistance. He began the program in honor of his late mother, a Louisiana police officer killed in the line of duty.

The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, a national nonprofit dedicated to reducing substance abuse among adolescents, today launched a new multimedia campaign for teens that illustrates some of the pressures they face, including peer pressure to drink and use drugs, issues with body image and bullying, among others. The “Who Controls You” campaign breaks this month and was created pro-bono by advertising agency, Hill Holliday and award-winning, social media influencer, Maris Jones, as part of the Partnership’s Above the Influence (ATI) teen program.
“We are incredibly proud of this work. We struck gold when Hill Holliday collaborated with Adolescent Media and Maris Jones to bring this campaign to life,” said Chief Marketing Officer for the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, Kristi Rowe. “Partnering with a young, talented social media influencer like Maris lent such a unique and authentic voice to this effort. Combining the extraordinary insight and passion of the Hill Holliday team with Maris’ distinct artistry brought an unexpected style to the campaign that makes this creative truly break through.”

In 2005 Johnson Controls stood with Tulane University to rebuild and resume classes within five months after Hurricane Katrina's devastation. Ten years later, the university and New Orleans residents are building a better future one project at a time.
