Sydney Fialkow, 10, and her mother Stacy, 41, of Atlanta were named the grand prize winners of the Ben’s Beginners™ Cooking Contest. The playful nationwide competition, sponsored by the UNCLE BEN’S® Brand, the number-one selling brand of rice in the United States, was designed to empower and encourage parents to connect with their kids one meal at a time.
Sydney Fialkow was selected from a field of more than 700 contestants (ages 5-12) who videotaped themselves preparing a kid-friendly rice dish and discussing the experience of cooking with their parents. The contestants were narrowed to four finalists, from which the Fialkows were selected as the grand prize winners. The Fialkow family has won a $20,000 cash prize and a $50,000 cafeteria makeover for The Epstein School, located in Sandy Springs, Ga., where Sydney attends as a fourth grade student.

The prestigious award named UH Case Medical Center the top hospital in the nation for its leadership and innovation in quality improvement and safety.

Matt Cogar furthered his legacy at the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® U.S. Championship, presented by RAM, besting seven of the top lumberjack athletes in the country to win his fifth straight title. The Championship took place at BMO Harris Pavilion at German Fest Milwaukee in front of a crowd of over 10,000, in a three-day Championship weekend that attracted more than 17,000 fans.
“It was so amazing. It was such a wonderful event with some tough competition,” said Cogar. “I’m thankful for my family, who mean everything to me, and who supported me in all that I do.” In addition to the glory of being named U.S. Champion, Cogar was awarded a brand new Ram 1500 for his victory.

With the 125th Red Kettle Campaign well underway, donors and supporters of The Salvation Army have rallied in pursuit of a new way to give to those in need: by entering their #RedKettleReason video for a chance to win The Salvation Army’s first-ever Giving Spree Contest. After five finalist videos were selected, and tens of thousands of votes from the public, the results are in.
Fifteen-year old Maddie Bonocore from Overland Park, Kan. was named the winner, receiving a paid trip to New York City to shop for toys and necessities for a local Salvation Army children’s program. Maddie shopped for the Kansas City Children’s Shelter, which provides shelter care for children unable to remain in their homes due to a family crisis, or issues of abuse and/or neglect.
Actor, producer, musician and Salvation Army supporter Nick Cannon helped announce the contest and joined Maddie for the shopping event. Highlights from the event were featured on TODAY.

Following years of trying to expand their family, Lisa and James Park of Raleigh, NC were named the winning family in Ferring Pharmaceuticals’ 2014 Heart to Heart Video Contest. This marks the tenth year Ferring has provided educational grants through patient contests, giving parents who have struggled with infertility the chance to win thousands of dollars for their child’s education by sharing their story.
Lisa and James’ rollercoaster journey to parenthood included multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI) and a frozen embryo transfer. They hope that by sharing their story and video, they can help raise awareness about infertility and provide hope for others facing similar struggles. SAIC, Inc. previously announced plans to create two independent, publicly traded companies. For 36 years, thousands of people have gathered at the yearly celebration along the gulf coast of Texas; a place known for thirsty mosquitoes, biting ants and other persnickety pests.
