Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi was a beacon of celebration this New Year’s Eve after playing host to a spectacular firework display, which lit up the sky of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) capital at midnight.
More than 8,000 visitors descended on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s business and lifestyle destination, to see in 2016. They enjoyed an unforgettable night of family fun and entertainment, which saw live performances from DJs and musical acts, Zeina Aftimos and Hamami Trio. Thousands of fireworks were launched from buildings in Abu Dhabi Global Market Square, the commercial heart of Abu Dhabi's international financial center, and barges in the Arabian Gulf.
Visitors were virtually connected to festivities from around the world, with live footage being displayed on a variety of screens, and an interactive earth globe that lit up when a new country welcomed in the New Year in its time zone. An assortment of festive food trucks, shopping and casual dining at The Galleria, five star feasts at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, a Winter Fair and a dedicated Kid’s zone, were also enjoyed throughout the night.

DEIMOS-2, Spain's first ultra-high resolution satellite launched into orbit on 19 June, has started capturing its first images just 12 hours after it was brought on line.
DEIMOS-2, which was launched from the launch site at Yasny (Russia), was developed by Elecnor Deimos in a record time of just three years. The company built an innovative Satellite Integration and Operations Centre in Puertollano (Spain) to assemble and subsequently control DEIMOS-2. As a result, this project completes Elecnor Deimos' presence in the entire value chain for space missions. Elecnor Deimos has the capability to manage entire space programs: design, integrate, validate, launch and operate Earth observation satellites; use them for commercial purposes and develop them for third parties.

We humans are creatures drawn to light. We are also drawn to enticing scents. The two join up at last in Bond No. 9’s latest eau de parfum--New York Nights, which celebrates the infusions of colorful lights that are routinely switched on atop a growing number of Manhattan’s skyscrapers every evening. Some of these lights are shimmering incandescents; others are the same now-ubiquitous but still otherworldly luminescent LEDs that glow at us from our computer and smart phone screens. I've been working on a very complex Progressive Trance song for over a month now but after investing so much time into a song that probably won't go over well with a mainstream audience, I become bored with it and so a much quicker and fun song emerged in my mind and so hence, the birth of Hey Terminator .... After that, I went back to work on the Trance song but once again, I became bored with working on that project for so long so once again I veered away from it to compose this new and fun song. This is probably the fastest time it's taken me to complete a song and video after the prior one.
A new crash test program from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety aims to ensure that manufacturers pay attention to the safety of front passengers as well as drivers.
The test was developed after it became clear that some manufacturers were giving short shrift to the right side of the vehicle when it comes to small overlap front crash protection. A good or acceptable passenger-side rating will be required to qualify for the Institute’s 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award.
The first test group in the passenger-side small overlap front test program did better overall than vehicles IIHS previously evaluated for research. Ten out of 13 midsize cars tested earn a good rating, while one is acceptable and two earn a marginal rating.
In contrast with a group of 2014-16 model small SUVs tested for research, none of the 2017-18 midsize cars had a poor or marginal structural rating. Instead, the biggest problem in the new group was inconsistent airbag protection in five cars, which would put passengers’ heads at risk.
