The first Meet the Media of 2015 was hosted at One Great George Street, the home of the Institute of Civil Engineers, and featured Simon Jack giving an insight into the workings of the Today programme.
Simon has worked across every outlet at the BBC, presenting business news on the one o'clock, six o'clock and ten o’clock news and as the face of BBC Breakfast’s business news. He is currently the Business and Economics Presenter on Radio 4's Today Programme.
The reach of the programme dwarfs that of national newspapers with an audience of 7 million. Simon hosts the business slot at 6.15am which is listened to by an audience of almost exclusively ABC1 professionals. Simon explained to the PR and communications professionals attending the event that this is the opportunity to “talk about issues that affect you and your clients”.

Jointly hosted by several government departments including the National Tourism Administration of China, the General Administration of Sport of China and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the 14th West Lake International Expo Hangzhou, China officially kicked off on October 13. Organization of the 22-day event was administered by Hangzhou’s municipal government.
The main venue for the event is located in the heart of Hangzhou, while activities are also taking place at an additional 14 smaller venues located in nearby locations including at the Hangzhou metropolitan economic zone and throughout the Yangtze River Delta. The 132–program event features a series of shows including West Lake International Fireworks Show, West Lake Art Expo, China International Press Photo Contest, West Lake International Sculpture Exhibition and China Arts and Crafts Masterwork Exhibition.

Cesar Millan, Scooby-Doo and Warner Bros. Consumer Products took over the National Mall for the Second Annual National Family Pack Walk on September 29, in Washington, D.C. A majority of dads in the U.S., seven out of ten, recently reported that they could use tips on how to be a better parent, according to a national survey conducted by the Ad Council. In advance of Father’s Day, WWE Superstars are inspiring dads throughout the country to get more involved in their children’s lives. WWE is joining the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Family Assistance, the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse, and the Ad Council to launch a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) that encourage dads to recognize their critical role and give them the tools to help get more involved.

Do you know how to recognize a stroke? Would you know what to do if someone — or you — had one? Many people don't, and 795,000 people in the United States will have a stroke this year.
In a recent American Heart Association/American Stroke Association survey, only 41 percent of people who care for family with significant risk factors for a first-time stroke could name at least three stroke warning signs.
As part of World Stroke Day on Oct. 29, and National Family Caregivers Month in November, the American Stroke Association is urging Americans to learn the stroke warning signs and to act fast when a stroke occurs.

Smokey Bear, one of the most well-known icons in advertising history, is starring in a new round of public service advertisements (PSAs) to celebrate his 70th birthday and further his famous message, “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires.” The Ad Council, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) are announcing the new television, radio, print, outdoor and digital PSAs in advance of Smokey Bear’s birthday on August 9. Every 25 seconds, or 1.35 million times a year, a young athlete suffers a sports injury severe enough to go to the emergency room, according to a new research report released today by Safe Kids Worldwide.
The report, “Game Changers,” made possible with support from Johnson & Johnson, takes an in-depth look at data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) to explore what type of injuries are sidelining young athletes.
The report also revealed that knee injuries account for one in ten sports-related injuries. Knee injuries, specifically tears to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), are disproportionately affecting young female athletes, who are up to eight times more likely to have an ACL injury than male athletes.

The National WWII Museum today opened its newest permanent exhibit: Richard C. Adkerson & Freeport-McMoRan Foundation Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater Galleries. Retracing the grueling trail that led from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay, Road to Tokyo explores the evolving strategy for fighting relentless Japanese forces in Asia and the Pacific, examining cultural differences, logistical challenges and the staggering range of extreme conditions that confronted American military forces in Asia and the Pacific.
Along with Road to Tokyo, the Museum also opened a new exhibit on the US Merchant Marine. LTJG Ralph E. Crump Merchant Marine Gallery is a stand-alone gallery that honors the mariners who risked their lives transporting weapons, men and matériel to distant warfronts. Features include a video, artifacts, a model of a Liberty ship and an engaging array of personal narratives. The gallery is situated in the Solomon Victory Theater complex, at the end of the American Spirit Bridge – a new glass-and-metal bridge that connects the Museum’s Louisiana Memorial Pavilion with the rest of the six-acre campus for the first time.
