Samruk Kazyna, Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund managing major strategic state assets with the combined value of close to $100 bn, is overhauling its business strategy, including approaches to investments and to asset management.
New management mechanisms will soon be introduced in all of the Fund’s companies. As early as 2014, business processes reengineering will start in three pilot organizations – diversified transport holding Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, oil and gas company KazMunaiGaz and postal service operator KazPochta.
These measured will result in operating costs reduction of 20% by 2017, and Samruk Kazyna’s economic value added will generate more than $11.2 bn for Kazakhstan’s economy.

Positive strides have been made since 1995 to advance science literacy in the United States, but teachers and parents agree that more hands-on, experiential learning must be adopted in order to improve science education for future generations, according to the results of the 2015 Bayer Facts of Science Education Survey released today.
For 20 years, Bayer has issued the survey, which assesses science education in the United States and evaluates its development. Although positive strides have been made, survey results emphasize the critical need to improve science education and literacy for future generations. Teachers, for example, universally agree (99 percent) that more hands-on experiential learning in general would benefit student learning.
In response, Bayer is announcing a five-year commitment to provide 1 million hands-on science learning experiences for children by 2020, timed to the 20th anniversary of the Making Science Make Sense® program, Bayer’s company-wide initiative that advances science literacy across the United States.

Barcelona is hosting the third edition of the Wine & Culinary International Forum today, a biennial international conference dedicated to food and wine pairing promoted by Bodegas Torres. Among them, Josep Roca, sommelier at El Celler de Can Roca; the award winning wine-writer and journalist Sarah Jane Evans MW, an expert in Spanish wines as well as the former Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine; the prestigious French enologist Pascal Chatonnet, one of the leading researchers into the microbiological factors involved in the interaction between wine and oak; Canadian researcher François Chartier, a pioneer in the aromatic science of molecular food matching since 2004 and author of Taste Buds and Molecules, world’s best innovative food 2010; the renowned French wine critic Michel Bettane; and the endocrinologist Dr. Francisco Tinahones, a researcher at the University of Malaga.
