I've just decided to upload this one since I created it back in 2007. One way of knowing that one of my songs is older is if there's any guitar in it. Although I still have my guitar, my Fender Sidekick started to short out back in 2011 and still serves me well as a coffee coaster or an ashtray table. For a group of budding business people, living with senior citizens for five days gives impetus to their dreams. It also encourages innovation that could improve the lives of the aging. They are all participants in Brookdale’s Entrepreneur in Residence program, part of the company’s “Rewiring Aging” initiative to enrich seniors’ lives through technology. Recently launched by America’s largest senior living provider, the program offers those entrepreneurs developing products and services for seniors the opportunity to move in for that period of time so they can better understand the true wants and needs of the aging.

Despite spring’s warmer weather, longer days and greener lawns, a new survey from TruGreen indicates that the majority of Americans may not be living life outside as much as they’d like.
TruGreen believes more life should be lived outside, where we are happier, more active and more connected with ourselves, with loved ones and with nature. To better understand the trends, sentiments and aspirations that Americans associate with being outside, TruGreen conducted a national survey. The results provide insight into not only how we spend our time outside, but also how we think about our outside life. After analyzing millions of Internet visits and interviewing scores of consumers, Brookdale Senior Living has built a new website based on fresh insights into what’s most important to families searching for senior care. The first phase, which is a $4 million investment, went live on brookdale.com mid-August.
“With Brookdale’s website attracting more than 500,000 visits every month, it’s imperative to make it as useful to consumers as possible,” said David Cygan, Brookdale’s senior vice president of marketing. “As the nation’s largest senior living provider, we know our website is a primary source of information, with many people coming to us first as they embark on this journey,” Cygan said. “It’s important that we offer substantive resources that make it easier to find help in evaluating senior care options.” More than 80 percent of adult children turn to the Internet when they look for care for an aging parent, according to the company’s research.

Forty-five million people – or 1 in 7 Americans – are living in poverty in the United States today. It often takes just one misfortune or one missed paycheck to change an individual or family’s life causing them to fall below the poverty line. Today, Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) launches #End45 – Raise a Hand to End Poverty in America, a national initiative to help shine a spotlight on the issue and the millions of others in need or struggling to make ends meet.

A new app to help the 80,000 young people who experience homelessness each year ‘check out’ of hostels and into independent living is competing for a £500,000 grant from technology giant Google after the project, proposed by youth homelessness charity Centrepoint, was named a finalist in the Google UK Impact Challenge.
