America’s one million restaurants will continue to be a leading job creator in 2015, according to the National Restaurant Association’s 2015 Restaurant Industry Forecast released today. While the operating environment will remain challenging, total restaurant industry sales are expected to reach a record $709.2 billion in 2015 – a 3.8 percent increase over 2014, marking the sixth consecutive year of real sales growth for the industry.

Icelandair helped alleviate the long days of darkness last night with the launch of their Aurora Borealis-themed plane, the Hekla Aurora. The launch, part of Icelandair’s #MyStopover campaign, culminated in Reykjavik as the plane flew over an illuminated Hallgrimskirkja church - a prelude to the city’s annual Winter Lights Festival which begins tomorrow.
The Hekla Aurora is part of Icelandair’s transatlantic fleet, providing passengers an experience of the Aurora Borealis while on board, both with its interior mood lighting, and the new Aurora Borealis livery on the exterior. As the Boeing 757 flew over Reykjavik city yesterday, passengers experienced the dancing lights of the on-board Aurora Borealis, with Icelandic music as the soundtrack, and, adding to the experience, a unique birds-eye view of Hallgrimskirkja church. The plane landed at Reykjavik’s domestic airport to a fanfare welcome as the locals came out in force to celebrate. They were also able to experience the plane for themselves as it was opened to the public.

A Firefly is lighting up operating rooms, making it easier for robotic surgeons to remove tumors. However, this Firefly is not the type that children catch in a jar during warm summer evenings. Instead, it’s a technology that uses a wavelength of light not visible to the human eye. A special dye is then injected which causes a bright green fluorescence of certain tissues, hence the name “Firefly.” This green glow lets surgeons clearly see the difference between cancerous and healthy tissue when performing surgery, allowing them to remove the tumor while saving the rest of the healthy organ.

Carowinds, the premier entertainment destination of the Carolinas, is gearing up for the most exciting season ever, with the debut of the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster, Fury 325 on Saturday, March 28.
Fury 325 will simulate the wild, daring and spontaneous flight of the hornet. Riders will board one of three 32–passenger open air trains and begin their ascent to the top of a 325–foot tall hill (over 30 stories) followed by an initial 81–degree first drop. The train then races through a series of hills, curves and quick transitions while reaching speeds of up to 95 miles per hour along 6,602 feet of track.

According to the Edelman American Well-Being Study released today by Edelman Wellness 360 in partnership with Edelman Berland, consumers prioritize emotional health over physical, yet 63 percent lack clarity on how to achieve emotional well-being, like relieving stress and increasing self-esteem. While consumers say they need more support to reach both their physical and emotional health goals, the study also revealed that nearly half don’t turn to others for help and 89 percent say they are solely responsible for their well-being. It’s not the first question a parent asks. It’s likely not the fourth or fifth. But for parents like Brian and Diane Vollmert, the question of how to pay for their son, Scott, to receive the best care while providing for their family became an unmanageable challenge.
