As school dismisses for the summer, students of all ages look forward to the carefree days of summertime, but many kids experience what is called the “summer slide.” Studies show that kids can lose up to two months of learning. Kumon, the world’s largest after-school math and reading program, is offering free registration at participating learning centers from June 1-30 to help students continue learning through the summer months.
While a break from the mental taxation of school is needed, challenging children year round is the key to having a strong start the following school year.
“Students can avoid summer learning loss by keeping their minds active and absorbing new knowledge,” said Dominique Ciccarelli, Ed. M., education specialist for Kumon North America. “Continuous study throughout the summer helps ease students into the new school year with sharper skills and enables them to tackle new challenges.”

At the end of June 2012 I learned through an Akashic Reading that my soul is from another star. My research led me to the 2012 Scenario website. I started tuning in to radio shows on InLight Radio including Let\'s Talk 2012 & Beyond which I find inspiring.
In mid August after hearing listeners talk about their personal galactic encounters I had a close personal encounter with a ship that was so real it was undeniable. I was beamed onto a ship to communicate with my galactic family. There were no words communicated to me but a tremendous feeling of love. Where I had initially felt fear, it melted and was replaced with love and gratitude.
Two days later my twin flame and I began seeing ships in the night sky. We could confirm that these were not stars or satellites because they pulsated light when we asked them questions and acknowledged them. They actually moved around in many directions, freezing when airplanes would come close to them. There have been many exciting encounters throughout the month of September and now October (time of video posting) which have been shared with Koreans and other foreigners. See my article on
Quadratic equations, factorization, and imaginary numbers are all math concepts often learned in high school algebra. Now imagine determined fourth, fifth or sixth graders quietly working through these concepts on their own. This is exactly what you would see if you peeked into many Kumon Centers.

Service members and their families stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, one of the largest training bases for the U.S. Army, received a special visit on May 3 from The First Lady, Dr. Biden and Astronaut Mark Kelly. They were joined by lifelong literacy advocate LeVar Burton, the host of Reading Rainbow®, for a story time event for students on-base at Thayer Elementary School. The event was part of the White House’s Joining Forces initiative. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, the initiative works to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the tools they need to succeed throughout their lives.
Burton, whose father was in the army and mother an English teacher said of the event, “I was truly honored to be asked to join the First Lady, Dr. Biden and Captain Kelly for the book reading to children of military families. I know from personal experience the sacrifices they and their families make every day on behalf of our nation.” Burton also added that the event was especially important as it focused on reading. “Literacy is the gateway to children reaching their full potential as human beings.”

Black History Month is a time when all Americans honor the rich African American culture in our society. It was Carter G. Woodson, an African American historian, who began a weeklong celebration, called Negro History Week, in 1926 as a way to honor Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. One of the best ways to celebrate is by reading books by and about African Americans. Virginia Hamilton’s works are among the many books that call upon readers to think about slavery, freedom, and heritage. Through her stories, Hamilton began the genre of liberation literature, which serves to instill cultural pride, as well as a sense of family and the importance of relationships.
