Mit dem BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé präsentieren die beiden Traditionsunternehmen auf dem Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 das Ergebnis ihrer ersten Kooperation. Das Einzelstück ist die exklusive Interpretation eines luxuriösen BMW Coupés durch die Augen von Pininfarina. Die Designteams schufen in enger Zusammenarbeit eine neue, charaktervolle Persönlichkeit für die luxuriöse Oberklasse: Typisch BMW, geprägt von der feinen Handschrift Pininfarinas. Mit dem BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé greift das BMW Designteam exklusive Designthemen wie Luxus und Eleganz auf und tauscht sich dazu kreativ mit der etablierten und spezialisierten Automobilmanufaktur Pininfarina aus. In dem aufwändig gefertigten Einzelstück haben die renommierten Unternehmen BMW Group und Pininfarina für die Verwirklichung einer Idee zusammengefunden: „Das Reizvolle an der Zusammenarbeit mit Pininfarina ist, dass man nochmals einen anderen, ganz speziellen Blick auf Themen wie Luxus und Exklusivität bekommt. Denn vor allem für diese Themen steht Pininfarina seit jeher und beweist dabei immer wieder feines Gespür und besondere Raffinesse. Following the successful introduction of Volvo’s Drive-E Powertrain range in 2013, Volvo’s powertrain team once again demonstrates its technological leadership in emission-reducing turbo technology.
“When we launched the Drive-E powertrain family, our aim was to deliver the most advanced 4-cylinder engines in the industry based on emissions and fuel consumption relative to performance and drivability. We knew that 320 hp in our petrol configuration was just a starting point. The 450 hp High Performance Drive-E Powertrain Concept, demonstrates this ambition and the versatility of the Drive-E Powertrains,” says Dr. Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President for Research and Development at Volvo Car Group.

The 2014 Chicago Auto Show is now open to the public. Held in the McCormick Place complex, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. Volvo Cars’ design team have completely re-imagined how children could travel safely in cars in the future.
The move follows the Shanghai reveal of the XC90 Excellence and the Lounge Console Concept, which marked a bold and luxurious step forward for the Swedish car brand.
“We started by asking ourselves if we could make life easier for parents and safer for their children when it comes to the child seat experience. We focused on three key benefits – making it easier to get the child into and out of the child seat from an ergonomic and comfort perspective, providing the child with a safe rearward facing seating position that enables it to keep eye-contact with either the driver or the rear passenger and of course including enough storage for those vital child accessories, such as diapers, bottles, wipes, and so on,” said Tisha Johnson, Chief Designer Interiors at Volvo Cars Concept and Monitoring Centre.
