Today, Race Imboden, 2011 graduate of The Dwight School, was officially named to the United States Olympic Team by the US Fencing Association. After the fourth World Cup event, he mathematically qualified for the Olympics in Men’s Foil based on his high team rankings. Mr. Imboden is currently #6 in the FIE (Fédération Internationale d’Escrime) World Senior Rankings, #2 in the USA Fencing Division I (Senior), and #2 in the USA Fencing Under 19 Division (Junior).

Duda Farm Fresh Foods announces that it has donated eight salad bars to the Seminole County Public School District as part of the United Fresh Produce Association Foundation and first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools” initiative. The salad bars will be available to more than 16,000 school children and will offer a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits as part of their school lunch program. Johnson & Johnson today honors the winners of the 2012 Dr. Paul Janssen Award for Biomedical Research in a ceremony and scientific symposium at the New York Academy of Sciences in New York, NY. Victor Ambros, Ph.D., of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Gary Ruvkun, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, received the award for their collaborative discovery of microRNAs (miRNAs) as central regulators of gene expression and development, and will share a $100,000 prize.

As the rate of teen prescription drug abuse continues to rise in the United States, the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today joined with addiction expert Dr. Drew Pinsky,* to launch a new tool kit intended to help America’s schools educate teens and their parents about the risks and consequences of abusing prescription medication.
The Schools Get Smart, Schools Take Action Tool Kit is part of Smart Moves, Smart Choices, a national initiative of NASN and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., designed to inform parents, teens and educators about this growing problem of teen prescription drug abuse, and what they can do to combat it.

As another school year ends, American parents once again face the challenge of making sure their kids get enough daily physical activity to keep them occupied throughout the summer. Based on the results of a recent national survey of parents with children ages 3-17, that may be easier said than done.
While the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that kids have at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity, the Let’s Play 2016 State of Play Survey, commissioned by Dr Pepper Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS), revealed that only one out of three children participates in daily active play.
There also appears to be a significant drop in daily active play when most children head off to kindergarten. Half of 4-year-olds get active daily playtime, compared to 31 percent of 5-year-olds.
