Texas Instruments (TI) today launched STEM Behind Cool Careers, a series of calculator activities and videos designed to introduce middle and high school students to unexpected science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers. The fun, free activities are designed for the TI-Nspire™ CX and TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculators to show students how a solid understanding of STEM subjects is vital for any career, even careers students least expect.

As National Manufacturing Month begins, Whirlpool Corporation is celebrating its history and embracing progress in the manufacturing industry. Whirlpool Corporation is proud to be a Gold Supporter of Manufacturing Day 2017 and will be marking the day with a series of events in the local communities of its manufacturing plants across the country.
Whirlpool Corporation will invite select groups of high school and college students as well as community leaders to take part in a variety of activities at its U.S. plants. Programming will include: tours of the facilities, video presentations, and question-and-answer sessions. Whirlpool Corporation will also visit area schools, and employees will be involved with collaborative manufacturing-related class projects designed to educate students on the industry. In honor of National Volunteer Month, Chuck E. Cheese’s, the preferred destination for Big Brothers Big Sisters, is raising awareness of the more than 30,000 unmatched Littles in need of a Big. Chuck E. himself is kicking off a nationwide honorary Big program by becoming a Big for a day to a Little in Dallas. Throughout the month, all Chuck E. Cheese’s locations will also offer guests opportunities to support Big Brothers Big Sisters by donating at the register or participating in a National Night Out event on April 14.
Starting in Dallas, Big Brothers Big Sisters will match Chuck E. with a deserving Little for a surprise visit to his or her school, followed by an after school play date during Chuck E. Cheese’s National Night Out event on April 14 from 5 p.m.–9 p.m. National Night Out is a nationwide event in which a portion of the proceeds from all who attend will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Society for Science & the Public (Society) today announced that Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN) is the new title sponsor of the Science Talent Search. Selected through a competitive process that garnered interest from the nation’s leading companies and philanthropists, Regeneron will become only the third sponsor in 75 years of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious high school science competition.
The new sponsorship will be celebrated at a special event today at the American Museum of Natural History, which is known for its extensive science education program. The event will be hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Ph.D., Frederick P. Regeneron is committing $100 million to support the Science Talent Search and other Society programs through 2026 and will assume title sponsorship of the competition effectively immediately. As part of its commitment, Regeneron is nearly doubling the overall award distribution to $3.1 million annually, increasing the top award to $250,000, and doubling the awards for the top 300 young scientists and their schools to $2,000 each. During its history, the Science Talent Search has provided more than $25 million in awards to over 8,500 students and schools.

Today, GENYOUth announced the launch of Fuel Up to Play 60 en español, an evolution of its national flagship program. The program encourages Spanish-speaking communities nationwide to live healthier lifestyles through good nutrition and physical activity. Fuel Up to Play 60 launched a redesigned website (FuelUpToPlay60.com) that provides Spanish-language content and materials, extending the reach and access of the program to students, teachers and families across the country. Several organizations have supported the effort, including the PepsiCo Foundation, which has provided a previously announced grant of $550,000 to develop Spanish-language materials and resources. In addition the PepsiCo Foundation will provide another $100,000 for mini-grants for health and wellness activities and programming within Los Angeles Unified School District and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Fuel Up to Play 60, a program founded by the National Football League (NFL) and National Dairy Council (NDC), is designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive nutrition and physical activity changes for themselves, their schools and their communities. Studies show that physical fitness may benefit brain health and academic performance, suggesting active kids may do better. However, only 1 in 3 kids are active every day, potentially leaving many at a disadvantage inside and outside of the classroom.

The RCS Engineers Rocketry Team from Russellville, Ala., beat out 100 competitors to claim first place at the National Finals of the 2015 Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC). After months of rocketry design, test flights and qualification launches, hundreds of students from across the country traveled to Great Meadow in the Plains, Va., to vie for the title of champion of the largest rocketry competition in the world.

Despite a major song composing setback due to computer failure "My keyboard broke down" I was still able to complete this song and video by using old school computer tactics. First I pleaded with my computer. Then I bribed it. Then I learned how to communicate with it by sign language. When flipping it the finger was no longer effective, I then brought out the hammer and smashed my keyboard in front of it and then said "You're up next Mr. Intel and if you don't smarten up, I'll smash you Inside Out el." I try as hard as I can to be computer friendly.
