Forget CVs, Grant’s is looking to test the mettle of their candidates on location at some of the world’s most exciting cities, armed with a suitcase of Grant’s whisky.
Applications are now open for the interview of a lifetime – a 10-day world tour - launched by Grant’s Whisky as part of its search for a new Global Brand Ambassador for 2018. In a job interview like no other, three final candidates will each travel to a trio of countries, ranging from Colombia to Poland, India and South Africa equipped with a suitcase full of Grant’s to share with the friends they’re yet to meet.
Their journey will echo the legendary trip taken in 1909 by Charles Grant Gordon, the son in law of the founder of Grant’s Whisky, William Grant. Charles set sail with a suitcase of Grant’s and an ambition to introduce it to the world. 110 years later, Grant’s chosen Global Brand Ambassador will follow in his footsteps throughout 2018.

A new survey from the Gout & Uric Acid Education Society (GUAES) finds many Americans with gout may be placing too much emphasis on diet when it comes to managing the disease and controlling painful flares. Of all the steps taken to manage gout, respondents cited changing their diet by eliminating or reducing consumption of certain foods as their top step taken (50 percent)—even ahead of taking medications to lower their uric acid levels (40 percent) and maintaining an overall healthy fitness level (33 percent). Furthermore, nearly one in three with gout incorrectly believes that the disease can be completely avoided by eliminating certain foods; and more than one in four said they would not take medications if they were making dietary changes.
“Physicians all too often see patients who believe they can successfully manage their gout with diet alone,” said N. Lawrence Edwards, M.D., a rheumatologist and GUAES chairman. “But even with extremely rigid diet restrictions, most gout patients will only be able to lower their uric acid levels slightly—not nearly enough to achieve a healthy level to control flares and reduce risk for long-term damage.”

Three undeniable greats with one common bond – all were “Akron Born.”
With the world’s greatest basketball players set to compete on the sport’s biggest stage, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will celebrate their birthplace by getting the next generation of Akron greats off to a winning start.
To do this, Goodyear will honor babies born in Akron-area hospitals during the NBA Finals with a “Most Valuable Ride” care package consisting of a set of Goodyear tires, an “AkronBorn” onesie and a brand-new infant car seat.
Three Akron-based medical facilities – Summa Akron City Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Akron Children’s Hospital – will “assist” the initiative and help deliver the care packages to families of newborns. The package builds on Goodyear’s recent Safe Mobility Project with Akron Children’s Hospital.

Today, Novo Nordisk announced a three-year extension of its Changing Diabetes® in Children programme. Since 2009, free insulin and access to diabetes care have been provided to more than 13,000 children in nine countries in Africa and South-East Asia. For generations, homeowners have clearly thought of windows when they heard the term glazing. Single, double and in the meantime also three or four times glazed windows - the properties of the glass however have changed dramatically. Noise and temperature insulation are features and also - if desired - opacity just by pressing a button. Now glass is increasingly becoming a facade, as a solar panel, as insulation or as a photovoltaic system. For Architects this development is really fantastic.
Permeable or not, this is in the case of glass, in fact the question. Light shines through, this is what most people think, however, this is not quite true. Low iron glass is aimed to protect cells, but it is supposed to also let more light energy shine on the modules than normal window glass. On the other hand, modern three-or four-glazed windows let light through, but form an energy-saving temperature barrier. This way in the winter the cold stays outside and the heat inside. In the summer modern windows can automatically darken and prevent the room from heating up - energy for air conditioning is therefore saved. Glass has a lot of potential, a fact the visitors to the trade fairs glasstec and solarpeq in Düsseldorf, will have the chance to convince themselves of.
