The CCCL Austellungsmannschaft (Luzern's chef's guild competition cooking team) led by Chef Leonard recently completed their 4th team test cook in preparation for the IGEHO exhibition in Basel in November, only 1 more test cook remains in order to correct the dishes so that finished items look perfect. To assist the team in their cause to achieve this perfection 2 of the Swiss Cooking associations top judges (Franz Jonke and Werner Schumacher) were invited to critique the dishes which will be on display on the 25th November, their expertise and assistance will allow the team progress to the next level and hopefully aid our cause to achieve some medal status at the competition itself.

Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced it has achieved a significant milestone in transceiver technology by becoming the first company to successfully demonstrate 25-Gbps transceiver performance in programmable logic. Altera achieved this milestone in its 28-nm transceiver test chip, a prototyping platform that Altera is using to succeassfully deploy 28-Gbps transceivers on 28-nm FPGAs. The Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf earn the highest safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the first-ever U.S. crash test evaluations of plug-in electric cars. The milestone demonstrates that automakers are using the same safety engineering in new electric cars as they do in gasoline-powered vehicles.
The Volt and Leaf earn the top rating of good for front, side, rear, and rollover crash protection. Today, the 2011 GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test results revealed that nearly 1 in 5 drivers on the road today cannot meet the basic requirements to get a driver’s license, meaning that 36.9 million American drivers – roughly 18 percent – would not pass the written drivers test if taken today. Kansas continued their reign in first place (82.9 percent average score), while New York was bumped from last by Washington, D.C. (71.8 percent average score). The Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) successfully completed its first flight test today at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.
The PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) MEADS Certified Missile Round was employed during the test along with the MEADS lightweight launcher and battle manager.
The test demonstrated an unprecedented over-the-shoulder launch of the MSE missile against a simulated target attacking from behind. It required a unique sideways maneuver, demonstrating a 360-degree capability. The missile executed a planned self-destruct sequence at the end of the mission after successfully engaging the simulated threat.
