For an audience of 300 at the New York Stock Exchange, including members of the New York Cosmos and New York Red Bulls, the America SCORES 7th Annual National Poetry SLAM! featured poetry performances by 27 elementary school children from 14 cities. Also in attendance were guests of honor football legend Shep Messing and soccer visionary, Joseph Tacopina. The event, a benefit for America SCORES, reached its $150,000 fundraising goal thanks largely to these honorees and their friends, including international soccer icon Pelé, who collectively matched the evening’s donations with $10,000. Today, SC Johnson celebrated the anniversary of one of its recent renewable energy investments, two wind turbines at the company’s largest manufacturing facility, Waxdale, in Mt. Pleasant, Wis. These turbines have successfully cut nearly 6,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases in their first year. Combined with the site’s cogeneration systems already in place, the Waxdale facility, which is the size of 36 football fields, is now able to generate, on average, 100 percent of its electrical energy onsite.

Andyamathanha man, Adam is a professional Australian Rules football
player with the Sydney Swans. He holds an elite place in AFL history,
winning two Brownlow Medals and two premierships. Adam is actively
involved with several Indigenous sport and community programs and as a
leader, speaks out against racism in sport and society. When
asked to identify three Australians that inspire him, Adam named his
mum, Lisa Sansbury, former coach Paul Roos and friend Michael
O'Loughlin.
With the airing of Super Bowl XLVIII, 20 Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) students became the first to have a hand in designing the opening animation for FOX Sports’ broadcast of the NFL’s annual championship game. A television event that likely will be one of the top 10 most-watched programs in history, the broadcast was expected to draw an audience of more than 100 million.
The opening animation of the broadcast was set in New York’s iconic Times Square, and brought the worlds of art and football together to capture the superior athleticism of NFL players. SCAD students helped create the concept and design for the animation using assets provided by FOX Sports and by fashioning new creative elements.
