Today, on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, the Global Freedom Network (GFN) has brought together leaders of the Christian Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox, as well as Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim faiths who have jointly declared one common humanitarian endeavour: To eradicate modern slavery by 2020 throughout our world and for all time as a crime against humanity.
A number of faith leaders spoke at the event and video messages were given by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and by Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Basheer Hussain al Najafi who could not attend the ceremony but are equally committed to eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking.

The Amos Family had a dream—to raise $1 million to help shelter dogs find forever homes. Now, with the help of pet industry leaders Wahl and GreaterGood.org, this dream is a reality. The Australian family of five has picked up and moved to the states, and for the next year their home will be an RV and a giant dog-shaped mobile dog washing vehicle. It’s called the Bathe to Save Tour, and its mission is to visit 150 cities in all 50 states, raise money and awareness, and wash more than 25,000 dogs to get them ready for adoption.

Christina Nicols, senior vice president and director of strategic planning and research at Hager Sharp, was named the Washington Women in Public Relations’ (WWPR) 2015 Washington PR Woman of the Year Friday in a ceremony honoring top public relations executives and celebrating women in communications.
Nicols was one of three public relations professionals chosen as an honoree for the 26th annual award. The other finalists were Carrie Fox, president of C. Fox Communications, and Lisa Throckmorton, chief operations officer at SpeakerBox Communications. The three finalists represent women who have led some of the most influential communications campaigns in the District and across the country.
“This is a phenomenal honor and I am humbled to be surrounded by such exemplary leaders in the field who are dedicated to mentoring and supporting the next generation of public relations professionals,” said Nicols. “It is a special privilege to join the ranks of previous PR Woman of the Year recipients including Hager Sharp’s own cofounders Susan Hager and Marcia Sharp, as well as our CEO Jennifer Wayman and executive vice president Debra Silimeo.”
Nicols was presented the award by Silimeo, the 2010 PR Woman of the Year, at Friday’s luncheon.

Slovenian company, DOO Petsdialog, in cooperation with the organizing committee of the ministry of tourism of Slovenia announced the international contest, Lord of the castle, with prize of 100 000 euros. The winner of the competition will also become the caretaker of the ancient castle on the lake Bled for one day. To win this prize you need to meet only two criteria: you should be at least 18 years old (or have the written consent from your parents) and have a dog. The competition is going its pace but it is not too late to apply for the job of your dreams. Out of thousands of high achieving Kumon Students from the United States, Canada, and Mexico, just 56 were selected to attend the second annual Kumon Student Conference in Calgary, Canada on July 18th. The invited students are studying at least three years above their grade level in math and/or reading at their respective Kumon Centers.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn from each other through a variety of enjoyable learning activities designed to foster team building, group discussion, critical thinking and creativity. In this unique learning environment, students heard from inspirational former Kumon Students who have completed the Kumon Program, some of whom are now successful professionals.
