The California Fig industry is excited to announce the excellent quality of the 2015 fresh crop across all varieties – Black Mission, Brown Turkey, Calimyrna, Kadota, Sierra and Tiger Figs. Natural, good-for-you, and tasty California Fresh Figs are available now thru December.
To celebrate the start of the season, award-winning Chef Robert Del Grande of Houston’s highly-acclaied RDG + Bar Annie created five new simple and delicious recipes that highlight the incredible flavor and versatility of California Fresh Figs.
“I really think figs are the perfect fruit. They have texture, flavor, and nutrition,” says Del Grande. “There’s also a sophistication that fresh figs bring to any dish. Food Network sends Cutthroat Kitchen to camp this summer for the five-episode special series Camp Cutthroat, where twelve cunning chefs compete for victory under the watchful eye of host and head counselor of mayhem Alton Brown. Set in a secret location deep in the wilderness, these memorable Cutthroat alumni battle for the chance to win up to $75,000 in a tournament of great outdoors-themed culinary challenges with a diabolical twist. With extreme tug-of-war and canteen cooking to battles in the camp lake, only the contestants with the strongest culinary chops and sabotage skills make it to the end of camp. The primetime tournament begins on Wednesday, August 12th at 9pm ET/PT (all times ET/PT), leading up to a final showdown between the four winners on Wednesday, September 9th at 9pm.

At a ceremony at the company’s flagship clinical laboratory in Teterboro, NJ, the company’s chairman, president and CEO Steve Rusckowski presented Health In Your Hands grants of $50,000 to representatives from each organization. Paul Brown, M.D., founder and former CEO of Quest’s predecessor company Metropolitan Pathology Laboratory, Inc. or MetPath, established in April, 1967, was also recognized at the event.
