DonorsChoose.org, the online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need, announced today that Kia Motors America (KMA) has made a $1 million commitment to public schools as part of the citizen philanthropy organization’s first-ever national partnership with an automotive brand. Kia’s donation launches a Double Your Impact campaign with DonorsChoose.org, designed to fund 50 percent of classroom projects near Kia’s network of more than 755 retail showrooms across the country as well as the company’s U.S. headquarters in southern California and assembly plant in southwest Georgia. By matching community donations, KMA will bring more than $2 million of classroom projects to life and the offer is available until all funding is applied to classroom projects.

Stiefel, a GSK company, announced today that Hats On For Skin Health, its global campaign with the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS), has raised enough funds to produce 15,000 sun-protective hats for albinos living in East Africa and has already distributed more than 2,000 hats. The hats are being distributed from Tanzania, where estimates are that 98 percent of albino children will die before the age of 40 from cancers of the skin – a direct result of the sun’s damaging rays. Worldwide, albinism affects about one in 20,000 people. However the incidence of albinism in Sub-Saharan Africa is significantly higher than in the rest of the world, specifically in Tanzania where the incidence is one in 1,429.

Recognizing the importance of cultivating Latino leadership and promoting higher education in the community, Miller Lite is partnering with the Dallas Cowboys and the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund to launch the “Scoring for Education” program for the second consecutive year. The Miller Lite “Scoring for Education” program runs September 1 through October 31 in Texas (excluding Houston) and Oklahoma, where a donation to ¡Adelante! will be made for every select cans of Miller Lite sold. Consumers 21 and older can enjoy Miller Time with their friends, knowing that they are making a contribution to a great cause.
