“Someone special at St. Jude would like to say hello,” this is what Guests at Chili’s® Grill & Bar Highland Springs restaurant heard after choosing to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® during this year’s Create-A-Pepper campaign. It’s often difficult to connect how an add-on donation at the end of a meal or coloring a pepper while at Chili’s can have an impact on the kids at St. Jude, but over the past 15 years, each donation and pepper has added up to more than $64 million to support St. Jude’s mission of Finding cures. Saving children®.
This year, Chili’s is showing how a little action can create a big impact by continuing to connect those who care with those in need of care. ChiliHeads at Highland Springs in Beaumont, Calif. surprised everyday Guests with a special thank you for their donation to St. Jude. Guests came in expecting a normal dining experience and got something completely different. After a donation, Guests received a video call from a St. Jude survivor who personally shared their story and the difference each donation makes in ensuring that no family ever receives a bill.

Where might be the perfect place to introduce Tecnu Bites & Stings, an aptly named new over-the-counter product for stings and insect bites? How about the Great Texas Mosquito Festival in Clute, Texas? For 36 years, thousands of people have gathered at the yearly celebration along the gulf coast of Texas; a place known for thirsty mosquitoes, biting ants and other persnickety pests.
To the group at Tec Labs it sounded like the perfect place to get credible feedback on their innovative new product. So they hired a professional camera crew, grabbed some cases of Tecnu Bites & Stings and left the humidity-free confines of Oregon and headed to the land of cowgirls and Texas tea.
As the camera rolled, the video crew got some wonderful feedback from a great mix of people. The goal was to get honest and straightforward reactions and that’s exactly what occurred. Guests at the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Airport got the surprise of a lifetime, thanks to a pop-up concert by triple platinum recording artist Andy Grammer. The pop artist joined IHG® Rewards Club, the loyalty program for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), to kick-off the brand’s new Priceless Experiences promotion that brings members the excitement of the unexpected this winter. Adults have gotten the message that it’s safer for kids to ride in the back seat properly restrained, but when it comes to their own safety, there is a common misperception that buckling up is optional. Among adults who admit to not always using safety belts in the back seat, 4 out of 5 surveyed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety say short trips or traveling by taxi or ride-hailing service are times they don’t bother to use the belt.
The new survey reveals that many rear-seat passengers don’t think belts are necessary because they perceive the back seat to be safer than the front. This shows a clear misunderstanding about why belts are important, no matter where a person sits in a vehicle.
Before the majority of Americans got into the habit of buckling up, the back seat was the safest place to sit, and the center rear seat was the safest place of all in 1960-70s’ era vehicles. In recent decades, high levels of restraint use, the advent of belt pretensioners, load limiters and airbags, plus crashworthy vehicle designs have narrowed the safety advantages of riding in the rear seat for teens and adults.

It's been a month since I uploaded Supercar and so the time has come for my December song. The idea for this one came while I was waiting for the bus to bring me back home. Often when I write a song, most of it is composed in my head as I had the string line and percussion already laid out in my mind for this one. The trick is to actually create the exact sound that I'm hearing in my head. Once that it done, I have to write the words and then see if I can actually sing the song and decide then if my voice is right for it. I'm very happy with the results here and how this song turned out.
