Domestic violence happens 145 times every hour in the U.S. It affects more women than breast cancer, lung cancer and ovarian cancer combined. As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, The Allstate Foundation has partnered with actress Rosario Dawson for the Purple Purse campaign to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the role finances play in helping survivors break free from violence. In its third year, The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse campaign has pledged to donate up to $350,000 to the YWCA for programs that help domestic violence survivors gain the financial knowledge and resources needed to live independently.

In the U.S., approximately 159,000 women are living with metastatic breast cancer. To raise awareness of Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 13, MedImmune Specialty Care Division of AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) is launching the My+Story online resource center, which highlights the needs of women living with metastatic breast cancer and calls attention to metastatic disease as a key component of October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The just-released 2014 Salary Guides from Robert Half show that U.S. starting salaries for professional occupations are projected to increase an average of 3.7 percent next year. Technology positions are expected to see the largest gains among all fields researched, with an anticipated 5.6 percent increase in the average salary for newly hired workers. Accounting and finance professionals can expect starting salaries to rise an average of 3.4 percent, according to the research.

The Amgen Foundation today announced $2.5 million in new grants for the Amgen Biotech Experience, an innovative science education program, bringing the total committed to nearly $8 million since the program’s inception in 1990. The Amgen Biotech Experience provides a real-world biotech lab experience to middle and high schools in Amgen’s U.S. and United Kingdom (U.K.) communities and will engage more than 50,000 students this year. Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), a global nonprofit organization that creates learning opportunities around the world, has also been named Program Office to oversee the program’s implementation and facilitate its continued development.

Hosting a four stateroom layout plus crew quarters, The Rock can sleep up to eight guest and two crew. Walking onto the aft deck provides outdoor dining with seating for eight and easy access to the fly-bridge or extended swim platform.
Upon entering the main salon you will immediately notice a large leather U shaped settee to starboard and port with a drop down projection screen TV. The high gloss cherry and burl wood throughout is an added bonus showing off the yachts finish. Forward of the settee is a wet bar to port with stool for two and day-head.
The dining table can seat eight guest with a large custom cherry table to match. Forward of the dining table is access to the raised pilothouse as well as to the forward galley and separate crew quarters with a shower and head.
The starboard staircase leads to the two guest staterooms all ensuite heads followed to the spacious Master Stateroom ensuite with a cedar lined walk in closet.
On the port side aft in the main salon is a stairwell down to the VIP stateroom and engine room.
