Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has named Alana Miller of St. Pauls, North Carolina, as the winner of the Grand Prize 2015 Rare Life Award. Eagle Rare will donate $50,000 to Miller’s charity, Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary, and host an awards ceremony in St. Pauls on March 14.
The Rare Life Award is an annual recognition program created to honor individuals who exhibit courage, leadership, survival, devotion, character and heroism. For the second time in school history, a team of academic stars representing Prairie View A&M University bested 47 teams from America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to win the 26th annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) National Championship Tournament. In addition to taking home the prized HCASC championship title, Prairie View was awarded a $50,000 institutional grant from Honda to support academic programs on campus.

To honor the troops who bravely serve our country, Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres and Mercury Insurance partnered for the second year in a row yesterday to host a “packing party” to assemble care packages for Marines and Sailors from I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton California. The largest Memorial Day observance in the United States happens on the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii with the Lantern Floating Hawaii 2015 ceremony, presented by Shinnyo-en, an international Buddhist community with Japanese roots, and the locally based Nā Lei Aloha Foundation. The ceremony takes place on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. It is non-denominational and free to the public to attend. The First Graduation Ceremony of Nazarbayev University (NU) took place on June 15, 2015. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed the Class of 2015.
Nazarbayev University, created on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan in 2010, is fast becoming a leading research university in Kazakhstan and the region. The first cohort of graduating students consists of 446 undergraduate and graduate students. Of the 365 bachelor degree holders, 115 have been accepted to Masters and PhD programs in leading universities of the world, some 90 graduates plan to continue their studies at Nazarbayev University; more than 80 received job offers from leading national and international companies, and another 50 are interviewing with prospective employers.

The decision made yesterday is the first step, but the dream of the Vice President and CEO Barbara Berlusconi to build a new stadium could soon become reality.
The project, which was presented along with Arup in January, envisions the construction of one of the most innovative stadiums in the world, open to the city and extremely functional. It will contain within itself a hotel, a school, restaurants, children’s playgrounds, walking paths in the green on the rooftop, exhibition space for young artists and other useful services to the citizens. The stadium will have about 50,000 seats and already many international companies are putting themselves forward for a commercial partnership.
