From 14-17 September, Furniture China 2011 (www.furnitureinchina.com/expo) will take place at Shanghai New International Expo Centre and will showcase a gathering of world furniture industry experts. The exhibition will host 2,000 exhibitors, both domestic and overseas, which when compared with last year is a 10% and 15% increase respectively. Approximately 80,000 professionals from home and abroad are estimated to visit this great ‘annual party’ for the world’s furniture industry.

TEFAF Maastricht is the finest art and antiques fair in the world. From 18-27 March 2011 more than 30,000 works of art spanning 7,000 years will go on sale at the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre) in the city of Maastricht in the southern Netherlands. The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF) attracts major collectors and museum curators from all over the globe. Last year more than 170 private jets flew into the local airport during the Fair with 82 arriving for the glamorous opening night party at which some 12,500 glasses of champagne were served.

Me playing "Summer Nights" from Grease on the 3 manual 17 rank Wurlitzer organ installed at the New Victoria Centre in the village of Howden-le-Wear in County Durham. The organ was originally built in 1930 for the New Victoria cinema in Bradford. It is now lovingly cared for by the North East Theatre Organ Assocation (NETOA). The welcome I received here was perfect! For anyone who sees the keys moving on the grand piano be assured it is not a ghost doing a duet with me - I am playing the piano from the organ!
Me at my "local" - the Wurlitzer organ at the Theatre Organ Heritage Centre in Peel Green, Manchester playing the beautiful "Autumn leaves". The Wurlitzer organ here is one of the smallest in the country with 6 ranks of pipes (Diapason, Flute, Salicional, Tibia, Vox Humana and Trumpet) and originally built for the Trocadero in Liverpool. Unfortunately I placed the microphone a bit to near to the organ grilles so the sound is a bit harsh in this video. I recommend listening to this on a modererate to loud volume setting and your speakers about 180cm away from you if possible. Being a public place of course there were other visitors in the building so I expected some background noise. My thanks must go to Pete Taylor for allowing me use of this little gem of a theatre organ and for a tour of the museum afterwards! The Lancastrian theatre organ trust must be congratulated on their work in making this organ and all the other artefacts in the museum look like they were only built yesterday.
Chef Leonard and his team were silver medalist winner at this years IGEHO culinary competitions, chef Leonard in the team manager of the Cercle des Chef de Cuisine de Luzern culinary team (www.cccl.ch), and together with Chef Schwarzenbach the team captain, the team claimed a silver medal awarded by the Swiss Culinary federation (www.kochverband.ch). Next year the team will organize Gala Dinners with Stadt de genusse which is for 2010 in Luzern, as well as taking part in Zagg (Luzern) and Expogast (Luxemburg) culinary competitions. The CCCL also wish to start up a junior Luzern cooking team made up of students, so all those budding culinary talents who are on their way to IMI can also get involved in some high profile competitions and events

Most audio is in English with Chinese Subtitles. The movie is about the beauty of Switzerland, specifically Lucerne as an ideal educational hub for studies abroad at highest level. The CCCL Austellungsmannschaft (Luzern's chef's guild competition cooking team) led by Chef Leonard recently completed their 4th team test cook in preparation for the IGEHO exhibition in Basel in November, only 1 more test cook remains in order to correct the dishes so that finished items look perfect. To assist the team in their cause to achieve this perfection 2 of the Swiss Cooking associations top judges (Franz Jonke and Werner Schumacher) were invited to critique the dishes which will be on display on the 25th November, their expertise and assistance will allow the team progress to the next level and hopefully aid our cause to achieve some medal status at the competition itself.
