Making the second stop on its 2012 Sightseeing City Tour, Transitions Optical, the Official Sponsor of Sightseeing, together with its partners Essilor and First Eye Care, unveils the Top 10 Sights to See in Dallas, and brings an exciting, interactive experience area aimed at educating consumers about the role of proper eye care and eyewear in seeing all of the ‘sights’ around you – whether on vacation or in your own backyard – to Taste Addison, taking place May 18 – 20.
National travel expert/bestselling author and “Official Sightseer” Marybeth Bond – who is also known as “The Gutsy Traveler” and has been to more than 90 countries – will be visiting the Top 10 Sights to See, sharing how healthy vision has impacted her own travels.
“Having damaged my eyesight when I traveled around the world at age 29 without wearing proper UV-protective eyewear, I know first-hand how important it is to take care of your eyes, so you can truly experience all the sights when you are on the road and in your everyday life,” said Marybeth Bond.

With the critical success and recognition of I Am Shelby Lynne, she was awarded the Best New Artist GRAMMY® in 2000 – after nearly 13 years in the business. Love, Shelby was released in 2001, followed by a pair of intimate, self-produced albums – Identity Crisis (2003) and Suit Yourself (2005). She made her acting debut in 2005, playing Johnny Cash's mother in the Fox Searchlight motion picture Walk the Line. Just a Little Lovin’, her critically acclaimed tribute to Dusty Springfield, was released in 2008.
Never one to go with the crowd, Shelby continues to stand apart from the mainstream music world. She recently founded her own label, EVERSO RECORDS. Lynne’s Tears, Lies, And Alibis, EVERSO’s first release, debuted at No. 16 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart in April of 2010. A Top 10 hit at Americana radio, it was hailed by Newsday as “her strongest album in a decade,” a sentiment echoed by numerous critics. She followed Tears, Lies, And Alibis with her first-ever holiday collection, Merry Christmas, released in the fall of 2010.
Revelation Road – Shelby’s most personal record yet – will be released on October 18, 2011. She wrote, recorded and produced the album, which leads off with the title track and first single, “Revelation Road,” a stirring reflection on reckoning and redemption. Lynne will be touring North American this fall.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 34.6 million adults ages 18 and above do not have a high school diploma. In an effort to combat this critical issue, the Ad Council and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation joined today to launch new public service advertisements (PSAs) on behalf of their national GED Achievement campaign. This multimedia campaign is designed to provide high school dropouts the encouragement and information needed to begin the road to a GED diploma.
Recent data shows that students who drop out of high school tend to earn less and have a lower quality of life. Many of them must work multiple jobs just to support their family. Moreover, as of 2009, nearly 30% of adults with household incomes at or below the federal poverty line did not have a high school credential.

The Karen Elson for Nine West Vintage America Collection collaboration combines the musical spirit of the Nine West Vintage America Collection with Elson’s ethereal fashion and love for vintage treasures. The vintage-infused footwear, handbags and jewelry collection drew inspiration from the 1930’s Dust Bowl and show girls to create the perpetually cool “on the road” and “stage” accessories, which incorporates rich color tones, sequins and vintage charms. The story of the collection is told through three of Elson’s songs off her debut album The Ghost Who Walks, and ties to the designs.
