Today, Race Imboden, 2011 graduate of The Dwight School, was officially named to the United States Olympic Team by the US Fencing Association. After the fourth World Cup event, he mathematically qualified for the Olympics in Men’s Foil based on his high team rankings. Mr. Imboden is currently #6 in the FIE (Fédération Internationale d’Escrime) World Senior Rankings, #2 in the USA Fencing Division I (Senior), and #2 in the USA Fencing Under 19 Division (Junior).
“I couldn’t be more excited and honored to be competing as a member of Team USA, especially in London because my mother’s home country is England. For nine years, I have been working toward this goal with the amazing support and sacrifice of my parents to whom I’m eternally grateful. Johnson & Johnson today honors the winners of the 2012 Dr. Paul Janssen Award for Biomedical Research in a ceremony and scientific symposium at the New York Academy of Sciences in New York, NY. Victor Ambros, Ph.D., of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Gary Ruvkun, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, received the award for their collaborative discovery of microRNAs (miRNAs) as central regulators of gene expression and development, and will share a $100,000 prize.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is naming the institution’s principal research tower after Donald Pinkel, M.D., whose legacy of driving progress toward advancing cures for pediatric catastrophic diseases continues at the institution today.
When St. Jude was established 55 years ago, Pinkel, the hospital’s first medical director, committed to finding cures for childhood cancer, leading to groundbreaking treatments that saved countless children’s lives. Many of these cancers were deemed incurable prior to Pinkel’s research, but his distinct approach to eradicating diseases established a model for how cancers could be treated.
