This Saturday, Dec. 12 marks what would have been the 100th birthday of legendary performer Frank Sinatra. While it has been several decades since the man with the unmistakable blue eyes commanded the stage at iconic venues up and down the Las Vegas Strip, it is undeniable that his presence and impact are still felt.
The momentous centennial celebration brought many of those who knew Sinatra best back to Las Vegas, his home away from home, including his youngest daughter, Tina Sinatra, and granddaughter, Amanda Erlinger. The pair spoke on a variety of Sinatra’s brightest Las Vegas performances, his favorite Las Vegas hot spots and how Sinatra would perceive the transformation of the glittering Strip into the Las Vegas of today.
“Any trip to Las Vegas with my dad was always great, always eventful,” shared Tina Sinatra, smiling over memories from her childhood visits to Las Vegas to watch her father perform. “He was born to play Las Vegas; some say he made Las Vegas.”

Mutt-i-grees helps show children the positive impact pets can have on their lives by teaching them important life skills such as empathy, friendship and kindness through interaction with shelter dogs. Purina and the Mutt-i-grees program share the belief that pets and people are better together and are committed to providing opportunities where these relationships can grow. The funds will be used to help expand the program to additional schools around the country.

Farmers Insurance is ringing in the New Year by honoring those who make us smarter with the “Thank A Million Teachers” float at the Tournament of Roses Parade. In Farmers’ 55th entry to the renowned event, the float will celebrate the “Thank A Million Teachers” initiative, which invites America to make 2014 the year to thank a million teachers. Riding the float will be honored educators from Montana and Nevada, alongside local Los Angeles students. Through the “Thank A Million Teachers” platform, Farmers has committed up to $1,000,000 in funds to classrooms and education programs. The celebration at the 2014 Rose Parade follows a recent kick-off event where actor Jack Black offered the first “thank you” to his former teacher and mentor, Debbie Devine.
