The themed chocolate shop was officially opened today by none other than LINDT brand ambassador Roger Federer. The highlight was a tennis exhibition match between him and ski racing star Lindsey Vonn on the Aletsch Glacier overlooking the Sphinx.

Ulmart’s stunning growth continues unabated as sales for the first six months of 2014 were up 31% in a year-on-year comparison. Sequential quarterly growth increased by 47%.
Ulmart’s half year results put the company at just below GMV of $610 million (VAT included). The company is forecasting GMV of $1.6 billion for the whole year which would put year-end sales at 33% higher than 2013.
Ulmart’s hybrid model which allows customer access to company’s fulfillments centers (currently there are 29 in the European part of Russia) continues to be a disruptive element in e-retail. Due to the particularities of the Russian infrastructure, reliance on last-mile delivery, the obsession of so many other world e-commerce leaders, is simply not a profit-creating option in Russia.

Abbott and the United States Department of Defense today announced a collaboration with the intent to develop portable blood tests to help evaluate potential concussions, also called mild traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). As part of a multi–phased approach, the tests would be developed for Abbott’s i–STAT® System, a handheld, diagnostic analyzer that is currently used for other point-of-care testing, including among military service members. Concussions are a significant health concern for military service members.1 With the development of new tests, physicians could use the information to positively impact the care of people with a suspected concussion.

In December 2012, we posted an OnSafety blog, warning of furniture, television and appliance-related tip-over incidents. At that time, CPSC reported nearly 350 deaths, most involving young children. Since then, more than 80 people have died when a dresser, TV, bookcase, table, appliance or other large item tipped over and fell on them. A new report from our staff indicates that 430 tragic deaths occurred between 2000 and 2013, and an estimated 38,000 annual injuries, many of which were serious, from 2011 through 2013.
In most of the incidents, a child was crushed by the product or struck on the head by the product. What is remarkable is the number of families who have turned tragedy into advocacy. Jackie Collas, a Philadelphia-area resident, is using social media to honor her son, Curren, and encourage parents to anchor their furniture. Lisa Seifert of Chicago created Shane’s Foundation to honor her precious son and to increase awareness, education and safety.

When hearing the word Bundesliga most people think of Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund. In an effort to help parents better understand why ignoring dental health can have serious consequences, and educate families about good dental health habits, the Ad Council and The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives created new Public Service Ads (PSAs) for the Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign. The new PSAs are humorous depictions of life lessons which make the point that while parenting can be tricky at times, getting kids to brush for two minutes, twice a day can be easier than most other things parents will try to teach their children. The new PSAs debut today at the American Dental Association (ADA) annual meeting and are now available for nationwide distribution.
