The USPSTF today issued a draft recommendation giving its second highest approval rating for CT screening for lung cancer for those at high risk, a move that if approved in final form, will trigger Medicare and insurance coverage and bring about a dramatic drop in the leading cause of cancer deaths.
Today, LCA also launched its Risk Navigator tool – www.AtRiskForLungCancer.org. Additionally, it expanded the hours of its support line – (800) 298-2436 – operating 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST. LCA will also launch a national educational advertising campaign in September to encourage the public to know their risk for lung cancer.

McDonald’s USA announced today it will televise its annual 365Black Awards ceremony for the first time on national cable television network Black Entertainment Television® (BET®). Hosted by award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson, the program will air at 11 p.m. Eastern/10 p.m. Central Sunday, August 25. McDonald’s 365Black Awards will feature an all-star lineup of celebrity performers and presenters. Comedian Jonathan Slocumb will open the broadcast that will feature show-stopping performances by recording artists Erica Campbell, Estelle, Angie Stone, Jordin Sparks and Yolanda Adams. McDonald’s USA today announced its 2013 Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour raised more than $83,000—the most the tour has ever garnered—in support of local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Chapters. With its seventh year wrapped, Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour, a free national concert series featuring a lineup of gospel greats, is designed to bring service, encouragement and entertainment to communities and emphasize the importance of giving back. This year’s nine-city tour, hosted by gospel artist/comedienne Vickie Winans, kicked off May 9 in Washington, D.C., and featured gospel music heavy-hitters Smokie Norful and son Ashton, Lecrae and John P. Kee. Tamela Mann also performed in select cities.
