BLACK+DECKER™ announces its new line of award-winning** SMARTECH™ Batteries, which use Bluetooth® Technology to connect to the new BLACK+DECKER Mobile App. The free BLACK+DECKER Mobile App has three components: My Products, Messages, and Projects. Combined with the new SMARTECH™ Battery USB charging feature, the app and batteries connect tools with technology to enhance the DIY experience.
The BLACK+DECKER Mobile App links with SMARTECH™ Batteries to provide a variety of functions. In the My Products section of the app, users can not only view a list of their connected batteries, but they can also select and interact directly with an individual battery when in range. From there, users can access four key functions: enable or disable the battery, view the percent of the battery’s remaining charge, turn on the locate feature to find a missing battery, or activate the battery’s integrated USB port. When activated, this port can power external devices, such as tablets and phones, connected via USB.

The Space Potatoes rocketry team from Bellevue, Washington, bested 100 of the top student rocketry teams in the country to claim first place at the 2016 Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) National Finals.
The five-student team outscored nearly 5,000 students on 789 teams that participated in this year’s competition from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Space Potatoes, comprised of Mikaela Ikeda (12), Larry Jing (13), Karl Deerkop (14), Srivatshan (Sri) Sakthinarayanan (13) and Stephanie Han (13), were awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships and funds for their school.

The 11th annual Amgen Tour of California presented by AEG entered its second decade as America's most prestigious annual cycling event, welcoming an unsurpassed field of professional teams for the race start in San Diego. One of the most important races on the international calendar, the 8'day event attracts some of the brightest cycling stars in the world to the golden state each May. This year’s field features 11 World Champions, five Olympic medalists and Rio Olympic hopefuls, with more than 30 countries represented.
The 2016 Amgen Tour of California includes 10 UCI WorldTour Teams, the most in race history, as some of the top cyclists in the world face off across nearly 800 miles of California terrain May 15-22, visiting 12 Host Cities from San Diego to Sacramento.
2016 marks the debut of the UCI Women's WorldTour, which brings the highest level of professional women's cycling competition to cities around the world. The four-day Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women's Race Empowered with SRAM May 19-22 marks the U.S. debut of the Women’s WorldTour and will showcase some of the best talent in the sport. The peloton will include two-time Olympic champion Kristin Armstrong and eight Rio Olympic hopefuls.
The eight-stage men’s event began Sunday with 18 of the world’s most decorated and esteemed teams competing for one of the sport’s most coveted titles. World Champion and reigning race champion Peter Sagan of Tinkoff roared to victory in a bunch sprint to the finish line in Mission Beach, San Diego, putting him back into the yellow leader jersey he wore at the race’s conclusion last year.

Alex Emanuel, a lifelong Rolling Stones fan was left feeling like a rock star when he met his heroes while touring Exhibitionism - the first exhibition on The Rolling Stones held at London’s Saatchi Gallery until 4 September.
New Yorker Alex was genuinely shocked when he turned round after a tap on the arm to be met by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, whilst enjoying the Recording Gallery within the critically acclaimed, blockbuster exhibition.
As Alex exchanged handshakes and back slaps with his heroes, he said afterwards: “It’s going to sound silly but for a moment I thought I was a member of the Rolling Stones. It’s not every day you get to meet your idols.”
Unlocking their vast archive, Exhibitionism is a Rolling Stones treasure trove, curated over 9 themed gallery spaces with 500 items from original stage costumes, rare instruments and lyric books, backstage and touring paraphernalia, album art, photography, stage designs, personal diaries and never before released audio and behind-the-scenes footage.
