P&G product donations total more than $1.2 million with cash and donations from P&G, its employees and retirees, taking the total over $2 million. Product donations include bar soaps, batteries, bleach, diapers, dish detergents, feminine hygiene products, flashlights, laundry detergents, paper towels, shampoos, toilet tissue, tooth brushes, toothpaste, and wipes. Additionally, P&G has committed to providing six million packets of PUR, a technology that purifies contaminated water. This quantity is enough to treat 60 million liters of water (a 3-month supply for 340,000 people).

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), the world’s premier culinary college, sent six of its distinguished faculty and degree program students to catch fish off the coast of Louisiana in Plaquemines Parish and experience firsthand the purity and taste of the region’s seafood.
The team of four chefs and two culinary arts students from the CIA’s Hyde Park, New York campus toured the Parish and sampled shrimp, crab, oysters, tuna, and snapper straight from its waters. CGAP recently conducted a study of 426 Mexican households with income below $1,440 per month in an effort to better understand the financial habits, needs and wants of low-income customers. The nationally representative survey helped segment customers into six groups with common needs and behavior towards financial services. The study highlights in particular four lower-income groups – those living on US$4-10 per day (seasonal workers), US$10 per day (entrepreneurs), US$15 per day (informal salaried/wage workers) and US$12 per day (formal salaried workers) – and found that even across these income segments, households’ financial concerns and aspirations were similar.
