Tatsuo Miyajima, one of Japan’s most influential artists over the past two decades, debuted his work “HOTO” (2008) in the United States for the first time this week for an indefinite engagement at The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas. The piece previously has been on display only in Japan and China.
Inspired by Buddhist scripture, HOTO – meaning “treasure pagoda” – refers to a story about a monumental bejeweled tower that emerges from the ground, floats midair and covers half the world, symbolizing the importance of every human life. According to Buddhist teachings, life cannot be described without such an impossible story because life is nothing but a miracle.
It was this scripture and the devastating events of September 11, 2001 that inspired Miyajima to create HOTO, which represents his belief that every life is important as well as his hope for inter-connectedness across the globe creating peace and community.

CEB (NYSE: CEB), a best practice insight and technology company, today announced the launch of CEB Precise Fit. This new high-volume recruiting solution combines a candidate-friendly mobile experience with industry-leading predictive analytics to deliver more than 20 percent improvement on applicant quality. CEB Precise Fit is the only assessment solution that was built expressly for the mobile platform and that offers the candidate real-time feedback during the process, helping them determine whether the job is a good fit. This results in a more positive brand experience for the candidate and a more qualified, higher-performing applicant for the employer.
The traditional hiring process is cumbersome for all involved. Recruiters have to sort through three times the applications they did just a few years ago and it takes them 26 days longer to make a hire than it did in 2010. Despite this, there’s been no real improvement in quality of hire. Candidates have their own challenges with the process – putting forth all of their effort upfront with limited knowledge of the day-to-day requirements of the position; not hearing back from an employer after submitting an application – which results in a negative recruitment experience. These experiences cost brands more than just great talent; they can directly impact the bottom line since one-in-five candidates who report a negative recruiting experience stop using or purchasing products from that brand.

When temperatures start to fall and days become shorter it is time to take your car to the workshop to prepare it for the winter. Changing to winter tires and testing lights are a matter of course for drivers. However, the car battery is often neglected, although it is under even more stress during the cold season. For example, continuous use of the windshield heater or the air conditioning system takes a large amount of power and makes heavy demands on the battery. Especially in winter, the only way to avoid unpleasant surprises is to have the battery checked regularly by the workshop. The latest ADAC statistics show that 39% of all breakdowns are due to the battery.

Only 1 minicar out of 11 tested achieves an acceptable rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's small overlap front crash test, making these tiny vehicles the worst performing group of any evaluated so far.
The Chevrolet Spark's acceptable rating in the test, along with good ratings in the Institute's four other crashworthiness evaluations, earns the new minicar a 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK award. The Spark was among the initial award winners announced in December. The new small overlap test results for the rest of the minicar group mean that no other models in this size category join the Spark in the winner's circle yet.
A group of four minivans recently tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for protection in small overlap front crashes shows some of the worst possible outcomes for this type of crash, with only one vehicle performing acceptably.
The Nissan Quest, the Chrysler Town & Country and its twin, the Dodge Grand Caravan, all earn poor ratings. The exception to the disappointing pattern is the 2015 Toyota Sienna, which earns an acceptable rating. It joins the Honda Odyssey, which last year earned a good rating in the test, in the ranks of TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners.
