Today at the AgVocacy Forum in New Orleans, Bayer recognized the 2016 Young Farmer Sustainability Award and Produce Innovation Award winners. The Young Farmer Sustainability Award was presented to Tyler Wegmeyer of Wegmeyer Farms, a commercial wholesale, u-pick and agritourism operation in northern Virginia. Amy Machamer and Hurd Orchards, a family-owned fruit farm in upstate New York, received the Produce Innovation Award.

America’s traffic congestion recession is over. Just as the U.S. economy has regained nearly all of the 9 million jobs lost during the downturn, a new report produced by INRIX and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) shows that traffic congestion has returned to pre-recession levels.
According to the 2015 Urban Mobility Scorecard, travel delays due to traffic congestion caused drivers to waste more than 3 billion gallons of fuel and kept travelers stuck in their cars for nearly 7 billion extra hours – 42 hours per rush-hour commuter. The total nationwide price tag: $160 billion, or $960 per commuter.
Washington, D.C. tops the list of gridlock-plagued cities, with 82 hours of delay per commuter, followed by Los Angeles (80 hours), San Francisco (78 hours), New York (74 hours), and San Jose (67 hours).

FC Barcelona has organized a talk named Crossing Bridges, hosted by Aperture Foundation in New York. This talk was part of the promotional activities of the FCBARCELONA PHOTO AWARDS, which is the first one in its nature, initiated by a sports club and aiming at photographs that will best depict the positive values of sports for the society.
The Awards expect participation of artists who use photography as a vehicle for artistic expression, professional photographers, as well as photojournalists. Four in ten New Yorkers report feeling unprepared for an emergency event such as a natural disaster, fire, power outage or act of terrorism. To raise awareness of preparedness tactics and encourage New Yorkers to plan ahead for disasters, the New York City Emergency Management Department, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Ad Council are releasing new public service announcements (PSAs) as part of the Ready New York campaign to conclude National Preparedness Month this September. The creative encourages families to take time to talk about making emergency plans, including what to do, where to go, and how to stay in touch during an emergency.
“We want all New Yorkers to know what to do to be prepared before a disaster strikes. We can help protect our families by thinking through the steps to take before, during and after an emergency. The new ads show how easy it is to make a plan, empowering New Yorkers to have a much-needed discussion about family preparedness,” shares Joseph J. Eight years after his passing, a father's daughter is making his musical dreams come true. Using music and lyrics from David DeNoon's recently unearthed songbook, Christine DeNoon, in partnership with Lorie Steele, has written the show her father always wanted, at last fulfilling one of his lifelong goals. Natalie Morales, TODAY show News Anchor and Third-Hour Co-Host, and Erica Hill, Weekend TODAY Co-Host, hosted the 12th Annual MORE/FITNESS/SHAPE Women’s Half-Marathon in New York’s Central Park on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Morales and Hill completed the race in an impressive 1:38:59 and 2:06:52 respectively. New York Yankees all-time great Bernie Williams is teaming up with Boehringer Ingelheim to raise awareness of a lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) that his father suffered from for years before he passed away in 2001. His father, Bernabé, inspired Williams to play baseball and make it to the Major Leagues, and taught him to play guitar which has become William’s second career since retiring from baseball.
In honor of his father’s battle with IPF, Williams has joined the Breathless™ campaign to turn his family’s devastating experience with this rare lung disease into a chance to help other families. Hunger doesn’t stand a chance against “Meatzilla,” a towering, three-story-high, monster-sized bag of Jack Link’s® jerky that today roared into New York City’s Meatpacking District. Spurring the epic takeover was National Jerky Day, celebrated every June 12.
The giant meat bag descended on Gansevoort Plaza this morning, dangling from an enormous crane to deliver its mighty, meaty cargo. The neighborhood was reclaimed as the “Meatsnacking District,” to the delight of jerky fans.
