Schwere Sachbeschädigung – oder notwendige Ergänzung eines gefälschten Zitats?
Die Republik Österreich, Landesgericht Salzburg, hat gegen den Künstler Wolfram P. Kastner, der zusammen mit Martin Krenn eine Klasse an der Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst 2001 leitete, ein Strafverfahren wegen „schwerer Sachbeschädigung“ eingeleitet und ein deutsches Amtsgericht um Amtshilfe und „Abhörung“ ersucht.
Was ist der Grund?
Der Begründer des Zionismus, Dr. Theodor Herzl, der sein Rechtsreferendariat am Salzburger Landesgericht ableistete, schrieb in sein Tagebuch: „In Salzburg brachte ich einige der glücklichsten Stunden meines Lebens zu. Ich wäre auch gerne in dieser schönen Stadt geblieben, aber als Jude wäre ich nie zur Stellung eines Richters befördert worden.“
Die Stadt Salzburg brachte im Jahr 2001 dort eine Marmortafel mit dem sinnentstellend verkürzten Zitat an: „In Salzburg brachte ich einige der glücklichsten Stunden meines Lebens zu.“
Am 29. August 2001 nahmen Wolfram P. Kastner und Martin Krenn mit den Studierenden in aller Öffentlichkeit eine handschriftliche Vervollständigung des Zitats vor. Sie sahen darin eine „Rückgabe der unterschlagenen Worte“, in der Hoffnung, daß dies die Verantwortlichen dazu bewegen könnte, ihren Fehler zu erkennen und zu verbessern.
Martin Krenn: „Die Tendenz zur Kriminalisierung von politischen Aktionen und die Einschränkung der künstlerischen Freiheit nimmt in Österreich bedauerlicher Weise zu. Aus meiner Sicht muß dem entschieden entgegen getreten werden.“
A blast of colors lit up the sky today at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida above the new Heroes & Legends featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame presented by Boeing. But not because of a rocket launch!
A spirited pyrotechnics display marked the opening of the new attraction, which was attended by more than 25 veteran and current NASA astronauts, including revered Gemini and Apollo space program astronauts Buzz Aldrin, James Lovell and Thomas Stafford. They were joined by the adult children of the late-astronauts Alan Shepard and Neil Armstrong, as well as representatives from NASA, The Boeing Company and Delaware North.

At the Rehacare trade fair in Duesseldorf, the preferred trade show for rehabilitation, care, prevention and integration, the limitations of people with such disabilities are firmly pushed back. Progress that was impossible to achieve one year ago, might well be possible this time round.
A vastly changing landscape would certainly capture one’s attention. The nation’s trees face an immediate threat from the Asian longhorned beetle (ALB), a devastating invasive pest with no natural predators. With up to 70 percent of the U.S. tree canopy at risk of being lost to this pest, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is spreading the word about the beetle this summer with a series of TV, radio and print public service announcements (PSAs).
The adult Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) is active throughout the summer months and into the fall. This invasive pest was first discovered in the U.S. in 1996, likely arriving here unknowingly inside wood packing material from Asia. The insect threatens recreational areas, forests, and suburban and urban shade trees. The beetle attacks 12 genera of trees, including birch, maple and elm. It is truly a landscape-altering invasive pest. And all states are at risk.

Icelandair helped alleviate the long days of darkness last night with the launch of their Aurora Borealis-themed plane, the Hekla Aurora. The launch, part of Icelandair’s #MyStopover campaign, culminated in Reykjavik as the plane flew over an illuminated Hallgrimskirkja church - a prelude to the city’s annual Winter Lights Festival which begins tomorrow.
The Hekla Aurora is part of Icelandair’s transatlantic fleet, providing passengers an experience of the Aurora Borealis while on board, both with its interior mood lighting, and the new Aurora Borealis livery on the exterior. As the Boeing 757 flew over Reykjavik city yesterday, passengers experienced the dancing lights of the on-board Aurora Borealis, with Icelandic music as the soundtrack, and, adding to the experience, a unique birds-eye view of Hallgrimskirkja church. The plane landed at Reykjavik’s domestic airport to a fanfare welcome as the locals came out in force to celebrate. They were also able to experience the plane for themselves as it was opened to the public.

In the wake of the horrific winter wildfires in Gatlinburg and the surrounding area, thousands of residents were displaced, many of whom lost their homes. Clayton, one of the nation’s largest builders of manufactured and modular homes, has helped one family in their efforts to recover from the tragedy by guiding them through their home buying process and delivering a new home to the family less than two months after the wildfires destroyed their old home.
Clayton produced a video highlighting the plight of Sandra and Trevor Cates, whose original Clayton home was destroyed in the fires. In the video, the Cates discuss the night of Nov. 28, when the fire took their home and many of the buildings in the Gatlinburg area. The family discusses evacuating Gatlinburg, how organizations and volunteers rallied to help support victims of the fires and the process for getting into a new home through a local Clayton home center.
