This Memorial Day weekend, PBS brings viewers an inspiring night of remembrance dedicated to our men and women in uniform, their families at home and all those who have given their lives for our country. The multi award-winning NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT returns live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol co-hosted by Tony Award-winner Joe Mantegna and Emmy Award-winner Gary Sinise. The broadcast marks the tenth anniversary that the acclaimed actors, who have dedicated themselves to veterans’ causes and supporting our troops in active service, co-host the event. The NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT will showcase our courageous American heroes who have been disabled for life; shine a spotlight on Gold Star Children who have lost a parent to war; and commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Do you know the condition of your vehicle’s battery? For a majority of drivers, the battery is unnoticeable unless the engine refuses to start, which happens more frequently in the cold and rainy winter seasons. “Extreme temperatures, irregular use, short trips and the age of a vehicle influence the starting power of a battery,” says Dr. Christian Rosenkranz, Vice President Engineering at battery manufacturer Johnson Controls. New research from Carfax shows that consumers are at considerable risk due to auto recalls being ignored. In fact, the number of cars for sale online with unfixed recalls increased an average of more than 25% in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. Buyers in these neighboring Midwest states need to be concerned about this disturbing trend. Fortunately, finding open recalls and getting them fixed is easy.

At the Goody\\\\\\\'s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, the friendly rivalry between racing legend and Goody\\\'s spokesman Richard Petty, and country music superstar and BC Powder spokesman Trace Adkins, got serious for two very good causes. Victory Junction, chosen by Petty, and Adkins\\\\\\\' chosen charity, Wounded Warrior Project, each received a donation of $50K from the powder brand they represent.
