My mother suffered for over 35 plus years with this and had a colostomy bag as well after a spell in hospital in an unrelated illness she was in a coma for 9 days and when she came home through dietary changes she stopped suffering. Debbie changed her diet getting all dairy products out from cheese to pizza to cream cakes and milk . Seventy-five (75) percent of people with dementia and 64 percent of caregivers believe there are negative associations for those diagnosed with dementia in their countries, according to survey fielded by Alzheimer’s Disease International and published today in the World Alzheimer Report 2012: Overcoming the Stigma of Dementia. The report was released on Alzheimer’s Action Day as part of World Alzheimer’s Month activities engaging people in the cause and raising awareness about the disease.
In response, Alzheimer’s Association® Early-Stage Advisors, men and women from across the U.S. living with the disease, and their caregivers developed tips on how to cope with the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s based on their personal experiences.

One in 10 working people surveyed in Europe have taken time off work because of depression, with an average of 36 days lost per episode of depression, according to a new survey from the European Depression Association. This equates to more than 21,000 days of lost working time in this group of people. However despite the size of the problem, nearly one in three managers reported they had no formal support or resources to deal with employees who have depression, and 43% called for better policies and legislation to protect employees.

The European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA) has launched the third and final booklet in its Life with Parkinson’s series. This latest edition concludes a four-year awareness campaign, which aims to highlight the lack of understanding and knowledge concerning Parkinson’s that exists throughout Europe today. The booklet’s launch, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, was one of the many activities in a weekend dedicated to celebrating the organisation’s 20th anniversary year and its commitment to improving the lives of people with Parkinson’s (PwPs).

Millions of young people across the nation will become scientists for the day tomorrow, during the fifth annual 4-H National Youth Science Day (NYSD). This annual event seeks to spark an early youth interest in science education and future careers, and to reclaim the nation’s position of leadership in scientific exploration. As part of 4-H NYSD, youth will participate in the 4-H Eco-Bot Challenge: the 2012 National Science Experiment at hundreds of local events taking place in all 50 states.
