DIY Network is on a mission to find America’s Most Desperate Landscape. The go-to-destination for home improvement television is asking viewers to share evidence of their desperate landscapes with the Network in hopes of receiving a $25,000 yard makeover. Now through Monday, April 30, 2012, homeowners can upload photos and videos of their ugly front yards to DIYNetwork.com.
In this fifth annual challenge where ugly wins, the prize is a complete landscape makeover, courtesy of DIY Network expert host and licensed contractor Jason Cameron and his Desperate Landscapes crew. The winner will also appear on America’s Most Desperate Landscape, a one-hour special documenting the search and build, which premieres on DIY Network Wednesday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET.

24-hour preschool television channel Sprout will premiere Justin Time, a new animated series for preschoolers that focuses on imaginary adventures and delivers fun, friendship and adventure along the way. Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) officially opens its new manufacturing facility in Cleveland, Tenn., for production of premium cooking products. The $200 million project includes a state-of-the-art production facility and distribution center and will be the largest premium cooking plant in the world. Whirlpool expects the project will add about 130 new jobs to its existing Cleveland workforce. Each year Whirlpool Corporation spends more than $7.4 billion to operate its nine U.S. plants and keep its approximately 15,000 manufacturing employees at work.
Whirlpool Corporation Chairman and CEO, Jeff M. Fettig, and U.S. Secretary of Commerce, John Bryson, were key speakers at today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony which began at 11:30 a.m. EDT. Today, Race Imboden, 2011 graduate of The Dwight School, was officially named to the United States Olympic Team by the US Fencing Association. After the fourth World Cup event, he mathematically qualified for the Olympics in Men’s Foil based on his high team rankings. Mr. Imboden is currently #6 in the FIE (Fédération Internationale d’Escrime) World Senior Rankings, #2 in the USA Fencing Division I (Senior), and #2 in the USA Fencing Under 19 Division (Junior).
