A new test program by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates the performance of front crash prevention systems to help consumers decide which features to consider and encourage automakers to speed adoption of the technology. The rating system is based on research by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) indicating that forward collision warning and automatic braking systems are helping drivers avoid front-to-rear crashes.

Bei Design und Ausstattung erfüllt der S 63 AMG höchste Ansprüche hinsichtlich Wertanmutung, Qualität und Perfektion. Die konsequente Umsetzung der Strategie AMG Lightweight Performance reduziert das Gewicht des S 63 AMG gegenüber dem Vorgängermodell um bis zu 100 Kilogramm. Erzielt wurden die Einsparungen vor allem durch den Einsatz einer leichten Lithium-Ionen Batterie, von AMG Leichtmetallrädern in Schmiedetechnologie sowie einer gewichtsoptimierten AMG Hochleistungs- Verbundbremsanlage. Zudem bestehen die komplette Außenhaut der S-Klasse einschließlich des Dachs sowie der Karosserie-Vorbau aus Aluminium. Der Einsatz einer Ersatzradmulde aus dem Formel-1-Werkstoff Carbon spart weitere vier Kilogramm. Auch beim Leistungsgewicht markiert der S 63 AMG mit 3,37 kg/PS die Spitze. Aus diesem Wert resultieren souveräne Fahrleistungen: Die Beschleunigung von null auf 100 km/h ist je nach Modellvariante in 4,0 bis 4,4 Sekunden erreicht; die Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei 250 km/h (elektronisch begrenzt)

The latest small overlap front crash test results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) reveal a range of performance among many of the best-selling small cars in the U.S. market. Of the 12 models evaluated, half earn a good or acceptable rating and qualify for the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award.
The 2-door and 4-door models of the Honda Civic are the only small cars to earn the top rating of good in the test. IIHS evaluated the Civics earlier this year and released the results in March. The Dodge Dart, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra and 2014 model Scion tC earn acceptable ratings.

Pirelli liefert die Slick-Mischungen P Zero White (Medium) und Yellow (Soft) nach Ungarn. Das ist auf dem Papier dieselbe Nominierung wie in 2012, jedoch sind die Gummimischungen dieser Saison weicher und bieten mehr Performance. Außerdem wurde die Konstruktion der Reifen noch einmal verändert. Die neuen Slicks kombinieren die Struktur der Reifengeneration aus 2012 mit den aktuellen, softeren Gummimischungen der Saison 2013. Vergangene Woche testeten die Teams diese neuen Reifen erfolgreich auf der Strecke in Silverstone und sammelten dabei ausgiebig Informationen. Auf dem engen und kurvigen Hungaroring ist die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit niedrig, ein Faktor, der Abrieb und Verschleiß maßgeblich beeinflusst. Beim Rennen in Ungarn kam es in der Vergangenheit eher seltener zu Regenfällen, für diesen Fall stehen den Teams der Intermediate Cinturato Green sowie der Regenreifen Cinturato Blue zur Verfügung.
