Kuran onun vaazları ve emirlerinin akılda kalanlarının kullanılarak takipçileri tarafından oluşturulan bir koleksiyondur.
Kuran'ın cennette önceden var olduğu, Muhammed'in başına gelen herşeyin Allah tarafından önceden belirlenip Muhammed'i 23 yıl süresince ara sıra aldığı ayetler boyunca sahne kuklası gibi Allah tarafından oynatıldığı fikri inanılası gibi değildir.
Bunun yanı sıra ayetlerde Muhammed'in kişisel ilişkileri ve arzuları üzerinde gereğinden fazla durulmuştur. Muhammed tüm gücü eline almak için kendine bir diktatörlük kurmuş ve koşulsuz itaat beklemiştir. Çağlar boyunca tanrısal rehberlik sunduğunu iddia eden tüm insanlar gibi Muhammed'in de Kuran'da sunduğu üzre kendi sözlerinden başka hiçbir kanıtı yoktu. Dürüst olmak gerekirse bu sözler hiç de ikna edici değil. Benim inancım müslümanların kendilerini bu görmeye ikna edecekleri."
