More than 33 years after the popular American TV show Knight Rider showed David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff talking to his car KITT, Volvo and Microsoft are launching a wearable-enabled voice control system.
Volvo owners will be able to talk to their car via their Microsoft Band 2, allowing them to instruct their vehicle to perform tasks including, setting the navigation, starting the heater, locking the doors, flashing the lights or sounding the horn via Volvo’s mobile app Volvo on Call and the connected wearable device.
In November 2015 Volvo and Microsoft announced their high-profile collaboration with the first automotive application of HoloLens technology. HoloLens is the world’s first fully untethered holographic computer, which could be used in future to redefine how customers first encounter, explore and even buy car. Now the two companies are delivering remote voice control for Volvo cars via the Microsoft Band 2 as another proof-point in their ambition to jointly develop next generation automotive technologies.

A new survey from the Gout & Uric Acid Education Society (GUAES) finds many Americans with gout may be placing too much emphasis on diet when it comes to managing the disease and controlling painful flares. Of all the steps taken to manage gout, respondents cited changing their diet by eliminating or reducing consumption of certain foods as their top step taken (50 percent)—even ahead of taking medications to lower their uric acid levels (40 percent) and maintaining an overall healthy fitness level (33 percent). Furthermore, nearly one in three with gout incorrectly believes that the disease can be completely avoided by eliminating certain foods; and more than one in four said they would not take medications if they were making dietary changes.
“Physicians all too often see patients who believe they can successfully manage their gout with diet alone,” said N. Lawrence Edwards, M.D., a rheumatologist and GUAES chairman. “But even with extremely rigid diet restrictions, most gout patients will only be able to lower their uric acid levels slightly—not nearly enough to achieve a healthy level to control flares and reduce risk for long-term damage.”

The newest video in the collection features Matt, who was diagnosed nearly seven years ago with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. I'm trying to think of something to say in behalf of this song but nothing come's to mind .... It was a really hard song to work on as with all of my other songs .... I had to save each new version of it on my external hard drive because I was working this song to the maximum capability of my musical program ... A couple of times, it froze up my computer and I wasn't able to save the changes ... I had to perform some extra research through forums on how to deal with the tech problems that I was faced with but in the end, I just took out my trusty hammer and I then had another conversation with my 2007 Intel quad-core computer about who run's this household and who is the boss and who is the bitch in this relationship ..... I first demonstrated my hammer on my coffee cup .... which I always hated the color of anyway .... and then with the most sinister glare that I could muster up, I then turned to my computer and said "If I don't have this song completed and on Youtube before the rise of the new moon .... you will be watching the rise of the new moon from outside .... all crammed up in the recycle bin while wearing this coffee cup on top of whatever is left of your circuitry .... You BUBBLY HEADED BOOBY !!!!! ...... Computers always heed to the voice of reason ..... The song is now done .... and I also now drink my coffee from a beer can.
New Orleans is one of the country’s most culturally, architecturally, and musically interesting cities. It will serve as the picturesque backdrop for Team Challenge, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s (CCFA) endurance training and fundraising program, to take over the city on February 28, 2016 for the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon, Half Marathon & 10k.
For the first time ever, Team Challenge is recruiting for participants to run through the Big Easy while raising critical funds and awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Collectively known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable diseases that attack the digestive system. There are more than 1.6 million Americans living with these chronic, debilitating diseases.
“Team Challenge provides people with an opportunity to raise critical research dollars while training to do something that, for many people, they never imagined they’d be able to do,” said Craig Comins, vice president of Team Challenge. “It is inspiring to see a group of people come together, some who have these diseases and some who do not, united in the mission of finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.”

Hunova, the first robotic gym for the rehabilitation and functional motor sense evaluation of lower limbs and trunk, has been officially launched in Genoa, Italy. The first 30 robots will be available from June in Europe and the USA. The technology was developed and patented at the IIT laboratories and has been launched on the market thanks to a 10 million euro investment from entrepreneur Sergio Dompè.
Hunova is a programmable robotic medical device that allows professionals in the geriatrics, neurology and sport rehabilitation field to cure and predict many neurological and orthopedic conditions. There are two main competitive advantages of this technology: Hunova is able to collect a significant amount of data on biomechanics, constantly monitoring the patient’s progress. Secondly, it provides direct support to the patient through a guiding robotic system, offering a wide range of rehabilitation protocols in the form of video games. It consists of two electromechanical platforms equipped with sensors, characterized by two degrees of freedom (feet and seat level). The device integrates the force sensors to adjust the interaction with the patient and a wireless sensor, which is placed on the patient’s trunk, allowing the physiotherapist to check the movement of the torso.
