“When I decided to come back to school and pursue my bachelor’s degree I did have a fear of how I was going to fit the studies into my schedule. It had been quite a while since I graduated with my associate’s degree. I was already working full time when I started here at Kaplan [University], and I’m also a parent. In an unprecedented move for the television-shopping industry, Jewelry Television® (JTV), is announcing that it will air Rock Star Designer, the first reality show broadcast on a home-shopping network. “JTV Rock Star Designer,” has involved a national search for talented jewelry designers, one of whom will win a $5,000 cash prize and the opportunity to design and sell a jewelry collection on the national jewelry and gemstone shopping network. The reality series will debut on Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. EDT, leading into the network’s most-watched show, “Girlfriend Friday.” There will also be an encore presentation every Wednesday at 2 a.m. EDT beginning Aug. 12.
In March 2015, JTV issued a call for entries and received applications from designers around the country. Each aspiring designer was required to submit examples of their jewelry designs and a biographical video describing why he/she should be JTV’s first “Rock Star Designer.” The public voted on its favorite entries, narrowing the field to 10 semi-finalists.

For a group of budding business people, living with senior citizens for five days gives impetus to their dreams. It also encourages innovation that could improve the lives of the aging. They are all participants in Brookdale’s Entrepreneur in Residence program, part of the company’s “Rewiring Aging” initiative to enrich seniors’ lives through technology. Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford today announced that the state’s Cash Dash unclaimed property program has a new name, I-Cash, and has added 780,000 new names to the public web database. The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office is making this effort to connect even more Illinois residents with their cash and assets.
I-Cash, part of the Illinois State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division, connects state residents with their unclaimed property. The program was established in 1999 with the goal of helping Illinois residents through the process of reclaiming money or assets. It’s common for people to lose track of their assets when they move or when loved ones pass away, and businesses and banks are required to turn over unclaimed accounts to the treasurer’s office.
