Promoting social-emotional development in preschoolers through creative play, The Chica Show is a mix of live action and animation that follows the imaginative adventures of Chica and her cast of friends (including Stitches, an animated character voiced by Mario Lopez) as they explore all the whimsical, humorous costumes and accessories in the Costume Coop – a playful shop filled with every costume imaginable. Everyone wants to show off their guns and the standing barbell curl is a great way to pump up your biceps. As with all exercises to get the maximum results you need to perform the exercise correctly.
The single biggest mistake people make when performing the standing barbell curl is swinging the body back. This defeats the whole purpose of the exercise which is to isolate the biceps muscle. Your body should remain fixed and only the biceps muscles used to lift the weight. If you can't lift the weight without swinging your body back then you need to use less weight until you can effectively perform the exercise.
Another mistake people make is not keeping your elbows tucked into your sides. You should not let your elbows leave your side. Again, we are going for the isolation of the biceps and you do not want to use any other muscles or movements to lift the weight.
The third most common mistake when performing the standing barbell curl is to drop the weight too quickly. To maximize the effectiveness of the exercise you need to slowly lower the weight back to the starting position. If you can't lower the weight slowly you need to reduce the weight until you can. By isolating the biceps on the way up and on the way down you will get amazing results with the standing barbell curl.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-powered charity dedicated to funding children’s cancer research, is recognizing National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with a number of activities planned throughout September. As the leading non-governmental funder of childhood cancer research grants, St. Baldrick’s is asking people to get involved by helping to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research.
“One in five kids with cancer will die in the first five years of diagnosis, and those that do survive face a lifetime of serious health issues caused by the toxicity of their cure,” said Kathleen Ruddy, CEO of St. Baldrick’s. “The American public wants kids with cancer to be a national health priority, but our leaders are leaving these kids behind with the lack of federal research funding. We are calling upon everyone to speak up about the need for increased childhood cancer research funding as well as to stand up in support of kids with cancer during this important month.”
Today, as part of the official kickoff for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, St. Baldrick’s will ring the opening bell at the NASDAQ Stock Market. St. Baldrick’s board members will be joined by researchers, as well as children and families directly affected by childhood cancer.
