Class. The 41st-annual show was a benefit for Meals on Wheels of Texoma
and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
Edvard Munch was born in 1863, and 2013 marks the Norwegian artist’s 150th jubilee. The height of the celebration is the anniversary exhibition «Munch 150». The exhibition’s goal is to provide as complete unified and comprehensive presentation of Munch’s art and artistry as possible, with over 270 works displayed at the exhibition venues the National Gallery and the Munch Museum. Visitors will be treated to an array of Munch’s major works as well as less known treasures.

Rituparno Ghosh - noted filmmaker from Tollywood, died of cardiac arrest at his residence, in the wee hours of the morning. Ghosh was 49 years old and had been suffering from pancreatitis, in the recent past.

SuperShuttle celebrates 30 years of service this year and officially kicked off its summer-long 30 year anniversary promotion June 1. Mitch Rouse, the then owner of Yellow Cab, Los Angeles, founded SuperShuttle, the nation’s largest shared-ride airport shuttle service in 1983. Rouse got the idea when his brother-in-law ordered one of his cabs to pick up his family for a ski trip and the family couldn’t fit in a cab with all their equipment and SuperShuttle was born.

Eisai Inc. announced today that BELVIQ (pronounced BEL-VEEK) will be available to eligible patients by prescription in the United States beginning June 11.
BELVIQ was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on June 27, 2012 to be used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or greater (obese), or BMI of 27 kg/m² or greater (overweight) with at least one weight-related medical condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. It is not known if BELVIQ is safe and effective when taken with other prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal weight loss products, nor is it known if BELVIQ changes your risk of heart problems or stroke, or of death due to heart problems or stroke.

“Preliminary forecast global sales for 2012 are just over $49 billion – close to the magic $50 billion which was discussed not all that many years ago as a possible figure to reach, but still a little away from the projected $64 billion by 2015. Im Jahr 1982 erblickte der erste Golf GTD das Licht der Welt. Der erste Gran Tourismo Diesel, was das Namenskürzel eigentlich bedeutet, war weitestgehend ein Golf GTI, allerdings mit einem Selbstzünder unter der Haube. Trotz der im Vergleich zum aktuellen GTD mager anmutenden 70 Turbo-Diesel-Pferde, war der erste GTD damals so etwas wie die Sportskanone unter den Dieseln. Das lag zum einen am straffen Fahrwerk, zum anderen am geringen Gewicht. Rund 900 Kilogramm brachte das zierlich wirkende Auto damals auf die Waage. Der aktuelle GTD lässt bei Bedarf 184 Pferde galoppieren, diese müssen aber knapp eine halbe Tonne mehr in Bewegung halten. Die Gewichtszunahme ist optisch leicht zu erkennen, der neue GTD ist gegenüber seinem Urahn stolze 50 Zentimeter gewachsen. Aber auch unter dem Blech hat er nun eine Menge Technik, die das Fahren sicherer und komfortabler macht. Dass der Neue, dem ersten GTD in jeder Lebenslage die Rückleuchten zeigen kann, lässt sich am leichtesten mit dem Leistungsgewicht erklären. Beim Golf I sind es mehr als 12 Kilogramm, die jede Pferdestärke bewegen muss, beim aktuellen stemmen sich nur noch 7,4 Kilo gegen jedes PS. In Sachen Höchstgeschwindigkeit lässt der Golf 7 dem Oldtimer keine Chance. Während 160 Km/h in den 80ern als zügig galten, sind es heute 230 Stundenkilometer… Doch eines verbindet die beiden GTD. Damals wie heute standen und stehen die drei Buchstaben für einen echten Langstreckenexpress.
