Millions of young people across the nation will become scientists for the day tomorrow, during the fifth annual 4-H National Youth Science Day (NYSD). This annual event seeks to spark an early youth interest in science education and future careers, and to reclaim the nation’s position of leadership in scientific exploration. As part of 4-H NYSD, youth will participate in the 4-H Eco-Bot Challenge: the 2012 National Science Experiment at hundreds of local events taking place in all 50 states. As Americans honor those who serve our country this Veterans Day, Colorado Technical University (CTU) is recognizing the sacrifices of 25 wounded active duty and veteran service members and 25 spouses of wounded service members with the gift of education.
CTU today announced the 50 recipients of the fifth annual 2013 CTU Wounded Warrior Scholarship and Wounded Warrior Spouse Scholarship programs. The scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, course materials and fees, as well as a new laptop computer.

The U.S. preterm birth rate dropped for the fifth consecutive year in 2011 to 11.7 percent, the lowest in a decade, giving thousands more babies a healthy start in life and saving billions in health and social costs.
“These results demonstrate that many premature births can be prevented with the right policies and bold leadership,” said March of Dimes President Dr. Jennifer L. Howse. “Our national progress in reducing premature births over the past five years shows that when infant health becomes a priority, babies benefit. We must implement proven interventions and accelerate our investment in new research to prevent preterm birth so one day every baby will get a healthy start in life.”

Following another hugely successful year, Facilities Show will celebrate its 15th anniversary by relocating from the NEC Birmingham to ExCeL London in June 2014.
Facilities Show 2013 took place from 14 to 16 May and was a roaring success, welcoming 15,830 attendees (subject to ABC audit) through its doors, an increase of 17.25 percent on 2012, and a fifth consecutive year of double digit attendee growth. Reflecting this success, a 3 percent visitor increase was also seen across the whole of Protection and Management Week, including Safety & Health Expo, IFSEC International & FIREX International.
