Internet marketing gives you the power to be your own boss and set your own schedule. Some of us just don\'t do well under the raps of working for someone else. This is the way I have always been. I like being independent and that\'s why I personally love internet marketing so much.

Covering The Basics Of Internet Marketing
Internet marketing gives you the ability to publish your products and services over the internet through your own website or promotion link. In order for your website to be visible via the internet, you need a few basic components.
You need what is called a hosting account as well as a domain name. A hosing account is a place to store your files online so they are visible for everyone to see. A domain name is the registered online address for your website. This helps people find your content and establishes an identity for your website.
Thirdly, you need a website or blog. For this, I personally recommend Wordpress. This is a content management system where you can actually log into the back office so to speak and change the way your content is viewed.

Team Up With Your Competitors
Internet marketing gives you the possibility to engage in your competitors products or services and actually promote for them, and in return they issue you a commission check for sales you make. This form of internet marketing is called affiliate marketing. We will be covering this topic in greater detail in further to come lessons.

We Live In A World Of Information
Internet marketing gives you the possibility to create products or services based upon your knowledge and experience and then sell them to those in your market who want to learn about what you have to offer them. With the proper skills and tools you have an opportunity through internet marketing to take your career as high as your heart desires.

You Don't Have To Have High Technical Skills
You need to know the basics about a computer and be able to connect to the internet. You will need some additional computer skills but if you are just no good at it, you can hire people to do it for you. We will be discussing outsourcing in later lessons as well so please keep a look out for them.
Internet marketing doesn't require a website but I recommend you studying the lessons on affiliate marketing to learn more. If you are a beginner and you want to learn how to build one from scratch, remember I recommend using Wordpress.

One very important aspect of internet marketing is tracking your conversion stats. In case you are unfamiliar with what they are, conversion stats tell you important detail about who is coming to your site and if they are buying or not. You need to know this data because you want to eventually focus your efforts on what is working and faze out what is not. This will improve your overall ROI (return on investment).
One of the skills you will need to learn is keyword research. I recommend using the Google Keyword Tool in order to do your research but we will be covering exactly how to do that in future lessons. Keyword research is a vital part of internet marketing because you don't want to be targeting keywords that people are not relevant to your products or services. Also, if you target low quality keywords that could create a direct impact on the amount of income you make.
