So this Thanksgiving, SC Johnson is launching Happy Thanksgathering™, giving families who might not be together this holiday season the chance to gather, to give thanks and to celebrate.
Now through Wed, Nov. 25, consumers can visit www.HappyThanksgathering.com for daily chances to enter a sweepstakes to win a $1,000 “Help Me Get Home” Visa rewards card to put toward a trip home this holiday season. They also have the option to enter a second sweepstakes for the chance to win a $250 “Help Me Host” gift card to help pay for a holiday feast with loved ones.

The largest candy-consumption night of the year is right around the corner. More than 80 percent of parents say their kids will participate in a Halloween celebration (2), and when asked about concerns related to Halloween, more than two-thirds of parents say they are worried about their children’s teeth, according to a recent Ad Council survey (1). However, three out of four parents report that their kids sometimes or frequently forget to brush their teeth on a daily basis. With cavities being a top concern, the Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign is celebrating National Brush Day® on Sunday, November 1, the day after Halloween, to emphasize the importance of brushing for two minutes, twice a day, every day.

As a private, family-led company, SC Johnson works hard to hold itself to a higher standard. Today, the company launched the next generation of its iconic “A Family Company” advertising, which aims to demonstrate this commitment and show that as a family company, SC Johnson cares as only a family company can.
“Being a family company means we don’t need to worry about the expectations of Wall Street. We have the freedom to do the right thing for the long term,” said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO, SC Johnson. “We care more, and we work hard to make sure our products are high quality, safe and healthy for the families who use them. We believe this ad campaign not only speaks to these values, but to the aspirations we share with families around the world.”
As an integrated marketing campaign across television, digital and retail intended to celebrate the value family brings to people everywhere, this new campaign grew out of what SC Johnson knew to be consumers’ built-in trust of family-owned companies. In fact, when the company launched the first “A Family Company” in 2001, research showed that 80 percent of people believed family companies made products they could trust.

Seniors 80 and over yearn to be connected but many are not, causing a more than quarter of them to become “virtual shut-ins.” While a new survey shows use of social technology is linked to better wellbeing for people in this age group and demonstrates its potential for combating isolation, it also reveals their frustration and need for assistance in becoming part of the digital world. These findings come from a “Rewiring Aging” survey supported by Brookdale Senior Living, conducted by Kelton, a leading global insights firm in collaboration with the Stanford Center on Longevity. It is the first in-depth study of how online social networking and similar tech-based activities affect the quality of life among America’s fastest-growing demographic segment.
Fifty-eight percent of seniors surveyed believe technology can improve communication with family and friends. This belief is borne out by the findings; respondents who indicated they interact with loved ones through social technology report having higher life satisfaction and health and being more likely to attain life goals than those who do not use social technology.

Americans want more joy in their busy, over-scheduled lives – in fact, a recent survey from Reddi-wipi shows that 93 percent want to find more ways to experience joy every day and 94 percent agree joy is more intense when shared with others. So, starting now, Reddi-wip is on a mission to #ShareTheJoy and help others #ShareTheJoy every day, too. Reddi-wip will encourage people to connect with others, give joy and watch it grow exponentially; to truly live in the moment and experience joy by being present and to awaken and indulge the senses. Reddi-wip will provide inspiration through a new advertising campaign and social content and tips created in partnership with Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, psychology professor at the University of California, and author of The How of Happiness.
“With the delicious taste of real cream, Reddi-wip has always made everyday occasions more joyful,” said Angela Joyner, vice president and general manager of the Refrigerated Foods and Sweet Snacks Portfolio at ConAgra Foods. “Through our #SharetheJoy program, our goal is to spark a joy movement that will have a ripple effect. Nearly three in four American voters (74 percent) favor increasing federal funding for cancer research, according to the results of a new national survey conducted on behalf of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The survey results were released today in conjunction with the AACR’s fifth annual Cancer Progress Report. The report highlights how federally funded research can power progress against cancer and urges Congress and the administration to implement a strategy for providing annual budget increases of at least 7 percent for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in fiscal year 2016 and thereafter.
The national survey, which was conducted by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies, shows that five out of every six voters recognize what the AACR Cancer Progress Report 2015 details: that progress is being made against cancer.

Positive strides have been made since 1995 to advance science literacy in the United States, but teachers and parents agree that more hands-on, experiential learning must be adopted in order to improve science education for future generations, according to the results of the 2015 Bayer Facts of Science Education Survey released today.
For 20 years, Bayer has issued the survey, which assesses science education in the United States and evaluates its development. Although positive strides have been made, survey results emphasize the critical need to improve science education and literacy for future generations. Teachers, for example, universally agree (99 percent) that more hands-on experiential learning in general would benefit student learning.
In response, Bayer is announcing a five-year commitment to provide 1 million hands-on science learning experiences for children by 2020, timed to the 20th anniversary of the Making Science Make Sense® program, Bayer’s company-wide initiative that advances science literacy across the United States.

Lake Research Partners and Bellwether Research and Consulting recently released a new national poll sponsored by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) that finds likely 2016 voters have widespread and serious concerns about ethanol’s unintended consequences—including damage to engines, land conversion and food prices.
“Voters across party lines express grave concerns for the impacts of the corn ethanol mandate from the Renewable Fuel Standard that touch many parts of their lives from the cars they drive to the food they buy,” said Celinda Lake, president of Lake Research Partners. “They strongly support bi-partisan proposals that would reduce the impact of corn ethanol, and particularly support the Environmental Protection Agency reducing the amount of corn ethanol required by law.”
As the EPA recently closed the comment period on its proposed ethanol volumes for 2014, 2015 and 2016, the poll also shows that 67 percent of people favor the agency setting ethanol volumes below what is required by law, with 68 percent of Democrats and 71 percent of Republicans supporting volumes lower than the statute.
